Just read that the SNP are going to really hit landowners hard - crackdown was the word used - as if they were drug dealers.

It is not only big landowners either. Apparently they are going to tax buy to let landlords heavily too - tax on the income on 3rd (and subsequent) properties will be 80%!

Scotch people would love to eat that. Especially deep fried, and basted in lard.

So, here are the bullet points detailing the SNP's reward for losing the referendum and continuing to be bitter and twisted...

The parliament should be given the power to set income tax rates and bands on earned income and will retain all of the income tax raised in Scotland.

The parliament should be given powers to allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote in Scottish elections.

The parliament should be given powers to create new benefits in devolved areas and make discretionary payments in any area of welfare.

A range of other benefits that support older people, carers, disabled people and those who are ill should also be fully devolved.

The Scottish government and Scottish Parliament should have a "formal consultative role" in the process of reviewing the BBC Charter.

I'm willing to put a lot of money on First Haggis saying something along the lines of "..the extra powers don't go far enough" and/or "..they don't come in to effect soon enough".

Of cours they'll say that. Utterly destructive and disruptive party. They'll never ever say... "Thanks! You're doing what you said you'd do biggrin".

What's that Queen song?

"I want it all,
And I want it now".

Not sure they need to, a quick scan of Twitter sees the usual suspects (Irvine Welsh, Angry Salmond) moaning already that it isn't devo max, just the maximum amount of devolution we're prepared to give them. Already talks of unilateral declarations of independence.

Fairly saddening as an expat Scot who wanted to go home one day. Now I think I'd probably rather move to North Korea....

1pm news. Cameron says it's a good day for the UK.
Scottish deputy secretary says they don't go far enough.

Typical. Cake and eating it, still moaning.

Thing is they couldn't control pensions or benefits else you'd have people simply moving one side or the other to get the best return.

I read one poster stating why isn't NI devolved ... Um it goes someway to paying towards state pension so given Westminster are paying out the pension they get the revenue.

Also interesting is that they wanted corporation tax devolved ... How! You could then have multiple levels of corp tax rates within the UK and differing rates for businesses with offices nationwide.

Haven't read the detail yet, but on the face of it I'd agree it's a positive proposal for the UK.

Also look forward to the so-called "English votes" proposed changes.

Can someone explain the income tax thing to me please? If Scotland retains it's income tax, presumably there won't be any flowing across the border the other way? So Barnet won't be applied and there'll be a reduction in budget? Before we get onto levels of tax raised per capita in the different regions?
