So, how long has Scotland been part of the Union? How much was the Darian bailout? How much has been repaid?

How does even the total oil revenue (not the tax) come close.

Do fk off with your poor 'they're stealing our oil' mantra. So fking inept as an argument or rationale it's untrue.

My ancestors should have left you to starve, after the last independent Scottish government gambled the farm...

Lol you do realise that it was built not far off 200 years ago -- a fair amount of time pre Oil discovery in the North Sea so zero contribution.

I do wonder why we don't calculate Darian bail out plus the funding from then until the 1980's when they finally decided to chip into the pot. Only once they had found a pot of gold they instantly wanted to fk off -- um await UKGovt to puta a charge on the oil fields until all debt are paid off.

Horrible sort these NATS utter self obsession and utterly ignore or lalala in not listening nor do I care what others have paid to me hard luck they chose to do so.

Scottish government doesn't fund anything though the UK has to do it.

So they're Scottish when describing anything negative about them - whilst retaining the remarkably Schroedinger-like properties when the usual suspects on here describe them as British when it's anything positive (in the cabal's eyes) to do with them.....ho-hum it is the PH way, I don't know how many times I've said it's irrelevant where they were born - but much more relevant as to which government machine they work for.

I think we established that around 1850 was closer to the mark so nearer 150 years, but don't let mere details put you off your yarn..... hehe

I've been wondering if the supply of foodbanks is creating its own demand scratchchin

How do they work? Does one turn up, say I'm struggling to buy food, then get given food? I can't imagine it's "means tested" but I don't know.

Definitely not a silly gimmick:

The first thing Salmond did was change the wording from Scottish Executive to 'Scottish Government' on all official communications, complete with new logo. Not only is that wrong from a Scotland Act (and common sense) perspective, for good measure he added some Gaelic nonsense for the three families who still speak it.

But yeah, they don't like silly gimmicks done by actual real governments. The hypocrisy is strong.

Judging by the maths I have seen from you yessers they are definitely Scottish. Oh and I can't think of anything positive about them but they ran the government mahine for 13 years in what can only be an SNP/Scottish type of way.

Merely a reaction to the Nats who believe that Scottish politicians and governments are inherently superior. It doesn't matter to Brits where there politiicians come from (Blair won a huge majority) but it does seem that Nats do. Racism? Hypocritical? Anti-democratic? Belief in a mystical force that makes politicians honest and smart if they come from one side of a geographical line or another?
So we point out that the mystical force really doesn't exist. Scottish politiicians are just as able to be idiots as the English.

R4 this morning confirmed the spend required on Westminster is £3b not the £5b you flagged -- don't let details get in the way eh.

Anyway turns out they are actually looking for outside Lindon venues for the time of the rebuild and also one serious option is to leave the building for good this not incurring any repair costs.
Its 20years though before things need to be done so watch this space.

The obvious answer is to move to edinburgh

As there is a magical forcefield which makes everyone honest and brilliant when in public office

And at no point would anyone end up in jail because of fraud

oh wait

Of course it is.

If you had little Govt. shops on every corner handing out 20 pound notes, there'd be queues out the door and outcry because we needed more shops and more people needing 20 pound notes.

There's part of me that knows I could save money and go on a better holiday by eating free food. However I know where Sainsburys is and not the food bank. I was in the next town up and looking for a supermarket to grab a sandwich the other evening and was offered good- I hope it was because the Sikhs were being good to everyone not because of how I looked- but looking at the people who actually needed it I realised I wasn't actually hungry enough to take the food. Probably would have been very good though, certainly smelt it, next time I'm round there I might.

And they are going to be running scotland for the foreseeable future

As fk up in scottish politics and scream "THE bd ENGLISH DID IT" and you get off the hook with rapturous applause from the scummy little nats

When you here nats moaning about taxing raising powers remember they have had the power to alter income tax from the year 1997 to 2010

Why did it stop n 2010?

As they never used it and refused to contribute towards the new systems in HMRC so the evil english removed the power
