Mine was Edinburgh for a decent length of time, I live on the South Coast.

I assume that it's not just based on income tax administered by each office, they do after all know where you've stated your address to be.
I beleive your tax office is defined by your employers address.
Tax office maybe but it would seem their systems are sensitive enough to know where you live (unless you think there are some very large employers in Elmbridge.

Yes, however they do have your address as well, which can easily be used for analysis.

Whilst not perfect, as your stated address may not be your main residence, it's good enough for these purposes.

Where it becomes more difficult is in the instance where this information is used to levy different rates of tax, as then there is both potential motive for identifying an address that isn't your primary abode and a significant penalty for inaccuracy.

Sure, but not in the same place. My companies do little in Scotland but the tax office is (or was last I saw) in Scotland. No problem with that, we are one nation, after all.

When did they start directly influencing policy at national level?
Maybe I'm missing something but in the last few decades we've had a female foreign secretary in Beckett, home secs in Smith and May, a prime minister in Thatcher, not to mention various other ministers from Mowlam to Morris to the Eagles to Flint to Cooper et al.

Boys club my arse. And as for cosy I'm not sure I'd want to publicly reapply for my £65k job every few years.

And how is Holyrood any different anyway? McLeish resigned in a rent scandal, McLetchie a taxi receipt fiddle and Alexander in a dodgy donation affair.

This assumption that an iScotland would somehow be above this type of thing is demonstrably bullst. Westminster or Holyrood they can't help themselves. The aim should be fewer politicians and less interference, not more.

It's no surprise that no one has mentioned the Claim that in 2013/14, people in Scotland paid £400 more in tax than the UK as a whole but they also received £1,200 more in spending.

Of course, we know that's a guesstimate. My taxes aren't included in that.
These are SNP figures. Do you REALLY think they're overstating Scotland's deficit?

I visited a formerly pregnant friend in Rutherglen Maternity Hospital in the mid '90's during her convalescence.

The family of the newborn child in the bed next to her had decided to call their Daughter Pocahontis...

...Their surname was McGuinness.

If she's survived, she'll be around 20 years old now.

Would you hire someone with that name?

Yes, the naivety, stupidity or outright lies of the SNP on the financial performance of an independent Scotland is crazy.

Has no one told Mr Cameron that Mr Salmond has stood down?

"The truth is you are weak and despicable and want to crawl to power in Alex Salmond's pocket."

He said the head-to-head debate should be between the two people who "actually call the tune - that is me and Alex Salmond".

The figures are from Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland (GERS) which is compiled by statisticians and economists in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser of the Scottish Government and it is an accredited National Statistic publication, which means that it has been independently assessed by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority as being produced in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics.

Do you REALLY think the figures are untrue?

So £6billion this year worse off that 2013/14 .... BUT we've only had 4 months of low oil price in 2014/15 what does that mean if it continues for full 12 months do we simply gross up the £6billion worse off ie £18billion worse off... Hmm

Very very concerning + AsNP want to spend even MORE so the Gap gets worse totally illogical.

Yep - still have tinternet smile.

So why do the Pro Yes votes believe it without question when its so highly unlikely to be true / essentially impossible to be true. The thing is they seem without question to accept anything SNP state and take it as fact & if challenged then they get super defensive and somehow end up giving war and piece on a totally unrelated question. Then they are asking the questioner a question.... Odd.
See my last post, Beefy.

PS Why are you posting here when the pistes are open? Get your phone off and focus on the skiing...!

The usual one pulled out of the bag is that the building of Holyrood was seven times over budget and Scotland can't manage budgets, etc.

Good to see the Commonwealth Games were delivered £37m under budget.

Wrong end of the stick there my dear

Nationalists claim EVERYTHING done by the scottish government comes in ahead of schedule and under budget due to the magic forcefield effect in scotland.

By pointing at the various farces like holyrood and the edinburgh trams were merely point out that scottish politicians are just as fking useless as english ones.

If the Scottish Government can continue to deliver stuff on time and under budget i will be very pleased as doing stuff on time and under budget is a conservative mantra.

Your typical Nat however will be slightly annoyed to discover that problems need brains and management not throwing huge bucketloads of cash at them.

But could that be because somebody decided that they did not want the bad publicity, and inflated the cost? To be that much under budget shows that it was not costed correctly.

Show me any government, any business, or any organisation who have every delivered everything on time and under budget and I'll show you someone who doesn't have reasonably accurate specs/scopes/estimates!
