This debate tonight is dire.

The Chair is beyond useless and is oddly allowing lots of talking over one another in a shout fest.
Chair also seems (IMHO) very left/SNP leaning
Corbin UKIP is a very weak candidate

Ruth is at beyond the abilities of the others - regardless of what you think of policies. Really well thought out answers.

But she did basically say the question of another referendum might be something to look at in the 2016 manifesto.

Cue boos.

They may yet really cripple Scotland.

Can you imagine what business decision makers will make of that? You can almost hear them firing up their risk registers.

Interesting to see SNP making out UKIP vile comments -- well weather she likes it or not in that area it is the settled will of the local people of Scotland who fathered UKIP to SNP.

Odd calling the voting public vile! (She didn't need to say a thing smartest way as he at times was digging a hole then digging it deeper all by himself surely scottish public are not that backward not to work out what it means??

That Sturgeon woman is a sanctimonious & supercilious tt who thinks she is far smarter than she really is. Its all sound-bites, no substance whatsoever.

Lol one of the SNP MPs on R4 this am and discussing full fiscal autonomy eventually he accepted the fact they would instantly face a £7billion black hole as verified by the IFS.

He simply refused to discuss which taxes would be increased local or what would be cut instead he kept discussing if only an oil fund had been set up 30 + years ago.
Interviewer kept stopping him look we can all talk about what if or buts however we are where we are what would you do? The voting public of Scotland need to know why are you not willing to tell them they truth instead allowing them to guess what will happen or not.

BBC Scotland 9pm last night.
Leaders from all the parties on it
Diabolical chairing ability

Did the debate you saw have the leaders on it or was it a local town Hall debate? Could answer the difference.

Well I watched the debate on the BBC i Player

My take:

The Chair: Utterly crap. Did not maintain control. Allowed a shouting match and also failed to ensure that speakers had the chance to articulate their points without interruption.

The Green Party bloke. A bit unrealistic and utterly idealistic in his thinking. More red than Green

The Liberal Party bloke. OK, but a bit irrelevant. Got the best one liner in of the night (but I cannot remember it! rolleyes (age is a tyranny!)

The UKIP bloke. Not very good, came over as a bit of a one trick pony. Any good points he might have had were delivered badly, plus he was constantly shouted down by Labour, SNP and Liberal bods. - see comment about the Chair bod above.

The Labour party bloke. Did not do too badly, but he lacks charisma. Occasionally sounded a bit strident

The SNP lady. Had a mixed night. Sometimes she sounded great, but other times she just sounded a bit smug and a bit complacent. Got rattled when challenged on the next Referendum thing and generally sounded evasive on the point. He faux outrage at UKIP man was silly

The Conservative lady. For me, the star of the night. Calm, effective, lucid, logical and managed to command a surprisingly large amount of support in the audience. To be honest I could see her as a Conservative party leader when Cameron goes. I was impressed and I think she will swell Scottish Conservative support significantly.

Was that the debate you watched?

Sounds like she's not part of the establishment then.

I'll vote for her.

I only read the reviews in the press this morning as was out last night, but I get the impression Ruth Davidson was the star of the night, and for a Tory in Scotland that's quite a feat.

The UKIP guy had no business being there, most of Aberdeen is either Lib Dem, Tory, SNP or Labour (majority Lib dem\SNP last time around I think)

Sturgeon was shown up a bit for what she and her part stand for, keeping a hold of the power at any cost and the 37Bi black hole issue left her a bit flustered after Jim Murphy had a go. Also the Aberdeen crowd didn't like the referendum again issue and one apparently called her out stating "She doesn't speak for everyone in Scotland".

The green candidate wanted an end to oil drilling.....in the European Oil Capitol....well done chief.

All in all I think it was better debate than the last time, but they have to stop using the local news reporters as chairpersons, the ITV one was the ex Newsround reporter and while I like her, she had no control over the group, and the guy on the BBC one is a it of a known SNP\Yes supporter from last year and he again has no backbone to shout down the arguments. They need Paxman in charge!

However I am now sitting on either Tory or Lib Dem as my vote.

She's young too, worldly compassionate intelligent and able to push ToRy policies in strong left leaning Scotland and doing a very good job.
I'd say she comes accross as a very sensible individual.

I'd have no issue with her being in the UK cabinet (needs a touch longer before party leader UK wide) but I've a feeling she is so passionate about Scotland she would turn that chance down instead continuing to do the great work she currently does.

Please come to my constitutancy Id love to have you as my MP
