The Salmond is off

Top notch fking politician???? By the standards of CMD Clegg Ed Hollande Droghi Barroso and the rest of the incompetent morons we have in this day and age maybe. I rather suspect Angela Merkel wouldn't have eaten him for breakfast lunch dinner and supped on him for shnapps though!
As for by the standards of who the UK and Europe has previously been able to call on the man was a damn pipsqueak!!! Good God not 25yrs ago the UK Prime Minister would have ground him into toothpaste!
He is a living breathing example of the mediocre mediocrity that is now considered an acceptable standard in the UK.

Sun Tzu has been dead for 2500 years, roughly.Content yourself that Scottish Independence has only been dead for a couple of days, and will remain thus for the next generation or so - so have some patience.
I doubt they'll be quoting Salmond's "Art of Weegie" in another 2500 years.

I think you miss my point.Content yourself that Scottish Independence has only been dead for a couple of days, and will remain thus for the next generation or so - so have some patience.

To you it would appear to be over. (I'm guessing, by the above.)
...I wonder if Eck (he probably holds a bit more sway) thinks so.
As I said, grab some popcorn.

But I don't think you understand that Scottish Independence isn't the main agenda item now - if it ever was.
There are roughly 60 million of us on this island, and about 10% of those live in the postal district known as Scotland.
After the recent unpleasantness involving a defeated secessionist move by a small proportion of the 10% in that postal district, the greater game afoot is how the remaining 90% are represented, governed and taxed.
Whether Salmond retires, dies, goes on Strictly-Come-I'm-A-Celebrity-Bake-Me-Out-Of-Here, or hangs around like a bad smell in regional politics really isn't an issue.
The real issue is how we adapt to the shared political landscape for the 100%, now that the 10% have had their say.
Watching CMD vs Ed Miliband is the compelling popcorn-eating must-see show - the vague whiff of post-referendum after-farts from Scotland won't change that.
