They got all the benefits of a capitalistic society and then, when their risk taking caught them out, they went socialist.

With my money.
I agree with the first bit.

But with your money? The total cost of all the UK bank bailouts was 2 years tax receipts from those very same banks and other finance companies.

Gosh, I didn't realise that the tax the banks paid was kept in a pot to bail them out if needed. That was very clever thinking by the Chancellor.

Neither was yours or Dereks or mine. Allocate your tax to whatever makes yourself feel better. Alternatively you can just be angry for another 5 years and tell everyone about how you personally bailed out the banks. I was just putting the amount in perspective.

Hopefully for more than another 5 years.

The money came from taxpayers whichever way you look at it. I'm a taxpayer.

I lost a bit of money I'd invested. It was my error, I knew the risks and despite the problem originating from the wanton bankers, I've accepted that it was a learning experience. It would appear, given current trends, that all I'll lose if I cash in within 3 years, is any profit on my investment.

However, money has gone to bail out the banks. This money came, to an extent, from me via various routes: VAT, income tax, road tax, tax this, tax that.

It'll take for than a few years for me to forget that.

Fair enough, it's your life to spend angry if you want.
