His jibe that would-be defectors to UKIP were people who might inflict barely credible injuries on themselves by vacuum cleaner abuse, shows he is exactly as above.

Leader? God help.
So he insulted the Scots and UKIP voters/teeterers and then mildly insulted everywhere outside the M25 by sounding like he was re-applying as Mayor of London. Result.

I do not mind Boris, but this mindset is poor. FWIW, the whole London-centricity of politics is putting many voters off and this is merely a symptom of a bigger group-think.

Beg pardon; bigger group-think?
What's one of those?

Sorry, missed punctuation. I mean a wider group-think among political classes - Labour supporters are voicing similar concerns about their party not being receptive to singals further north than NW postcodes.

He's very likeable to those who have no intrest in Politics. (Like me)

Hell. I'd vote for him as it would be amusing, not a great reason I know but he can't be worse then Blair. As a Londoner myself he does need to realise that there are people outside of this great city. Why they choose to live there, i don't know but they're just as important.

It was an engaging and entertaining speech within which there was some substance but Theresa May, who spoke before him, delivered a far better job application for the role of leader, as did George Osborne yesterday.

IDS was good but, alas, the best speech so far was William Hague's.

One of the things that I notice, both in the main events and in the fringes, is that all the talk is of the recovery in the economy as if that is an end in itself; there is little or no focus on how to get the message out about how that is making life better for people

He isn't campaigning for mayor of London. He was giving reasons why the country should vote Tory ( and why he should be the next leader).
The point being that London can be said to have a Tory (Boris) govt. whereas the country doesn't (it's a coalition). It was a "this is how great it would be if we (meaning Boris) were fully in charge" speech.

I'm sure there are many other sticks you could beat him with; on this occasion I think you have chosen the wrong one.

And she seems to have employed a stylist - new haircut and all. Not that it would sway me, but it shows she's serious about it. It's a pity that most of her speech was absolutely petrifying.

Contradictory, clueless and exemplifying soundbite Politics. She's become an extreme caricature of herself.

Yes - rather sinister overtones for sure. Also, ref the makeover, not sure why she has emulated the former Queen of the Netherlands - who must be 20 years older than her - as a look....

They're not as hated up here as fat 'Eck, his lap dog, and the media would have you believe.
One MP in Westminster (to answer the question) smile

But yes, more popular/less unpopular than the "more pandas than Tories" would suggest.
