We spend more on drugs and hookers than beer and wine. Crazy aye, just think of all that missed tax.

Yep, all the suffering of addicts and their victims, the billions into pockets of criminals and in some cases the groups in the middle east who want us all dead, the women and children in Mexico being beheaded, the teenagers in the UK being introduced to drug dealers for a bit of weed, the people smuggling and modern day slavery - makes no sense really does it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11131...

No doubt someone will come along shortly and explain how "lock 'em all up" system that's worked so badly so far is about to turn a corner.

Big, massive piles of money into the Treasury, Courts, Prisons and the Police unburdened, NHS unburdened to a certain degree.
We could clear the deficit in 5 years. (based on nothing but a guess)

Yep, legalise the lot (within reason), control it, provide education and treatment for the most harmful and most importantly Tax it - drugs are expensive because drug producers and drug dealers are after easy money - you could put 100% duty on most drugs and 'Virgin Drugs' could sell it for half the street price.

I firmly believe that some of the most impoverished countries in the eurozone will do this within 10 years and maybe within 5. Big, massive piles of money into the Treasury, Courts, Prisons and the Police unburdened, NHS unburdened to a certain degree.

Maybe not 'everything' but I can see them starting with weed and moving on from there.
