The end is nigh!

One of the guys in my team is working from home today as his lift in decided not to come in either because of the 'storms'. The guy on my team didn't want to do the walk to the bus-stop in the 'conditions'. I told him to wait until we get some really weather and then see how he gets on.

My commute in this morning was 35 mins longer than normal - it's usually about 30 mins. Not due to weather but because of a set of lights surrounding a small patch of cones that had sprung up over the weekend...
What happens to this guy in your team now?

does he loose a days pay/leave?

i'm a postie and despite the fact were highly unionised we'd loose pay/holiday and get a massive piss taking if we pulled a stunt like that, when the majority of staff got into work.
There has been only one time when I have not gone into work due to the weather; 2009 or 2010 when we had that really bad snow, it was about a foot and a half deep, I drive 13 miles to work and I wasn't even going to attempt to get the car going.

Some people are just lazy and will find any excuse not to do something that they don't particularly want to do.
Were expected to try and if we can't get into out depot go to the nearest other depot if possible.

People say we had it cushy because we were a state owned company yet seems in the private sector, bit of rain or snow and it's fine to not go to work?

Came home to find the heating on. Claims she was only testing it to make sure it alright for the winter. So I suppose she'll be 'testing' it tomorrow and everyday until spring then rolleyes

Seriously, what is it with women and their internal thermostats? Hers must have been broke when leaving the factory!
I bet she whacks up the thermostat to "heat the house quicker"?

Hell hath no fury like a man walking into his house after an unauthorised heating switch on hehe

You smell it as you walk into the door, feel the warmth and run to touch the nearest radiator, before spending about an hour explaining to the offender about the temperature outside and what the reading was on your car and how you had set the thermostat, blah blah, meanwhile her eyes just glaze over.

You forgot about the window in the lounge being open.

Mine did that this morning too, and the boiler promptly blew it's fuse. I guess the water pissing out of the diverter valve is probably the cause of that frown
Now if only the plumber would return my calls...

Ours is on now! Only because we haven't had it on since we moved in in march, and I want to make sure nothing leaks.

Got close to wanting it on this morning though...

We're pretty flexible where I work. WFH is something that all do from time-to-time. As long as work gets done, deadlines met and quality is good it's not an issue.

It was his excuse that made me chuckle, not the wfh.

I'm getting it in the neck because our radiators are drained down, need to tile the kitchen floor so I can fit a piece of skirting, so I can put the radiator back on the wall.

Wait till she realises I've fitted a Tado and can see if she's put the heating on from anywhere and can then turn it off. Oh and she can't actually turn it on as the only button puts it into Home mode, which isn't quite the same thing.

I've actually had the woodburner going on a low heat for probably 10 of the last 14 days, if I keep one room hotter (and let the heat soak the rest fo the house a bit) there's at least a retreat for her when she's 'frozen'. Temp in the house hasn't fallen below 16 degrees yet though.

"A fresh wave of storms are set to drench the south of the country throughout the day as commuters are warned of potential disruption.

Up to 40mm of rain could fall in large swathes of the country stretching from Cornwall to East Anglia as a weather front sweeps across from the continent, bringing gusts of up to 45 miles per hour to batter parts of the coast.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for the South West, South East and east of England and warned drivers of pools of water forming on the roads as a result of the downpours."

Look after yourselves and your loved ones and lets remember to be........."careful out there "

Well today is a day of mixed blessings.

On the one side it was fricking horrible on the way to work in all the rain and people who have forgotten how to drive since they got home on Friday.

On the other side the Tamora has now had the opportunity to prove that he is fully waterproof.

UK weather: Spectacular storm system set to bring wet, windy and warm weather across Britain

"A spectacular storm system that has developed across the Atlantic and is heading towards the UK and Europe is likely to bring with it high winds and heavy rain continuing Britain's topsy-turvy spell of Autumn weather.

While some areas in the UK are expecting so-called 'Indian Summer' conditions, with temperatures on Friday expected to peak at around 21C, other areas look likely to experience a washout with between fifteen to 25mm of rain falling.

A few places could even see in excess of 40mm of rain at times over the next few days, forecasters said."

It did have a bit of a blow in Antigua and it was only a Tropical Storm when it passed, not the Full Monty.

Well actually, had a FUD interrupt daughters photo project in Dundee this afternoon, <rolleyes> all dressed up in Barbour jacket and Hunter wellies.
Meanwhile self and daughter are lying on the ground taking low angle shots of Magdalen bandstand when said FUD puffs itself round and into shot.
Boy was it COLD in the wind. I was so glad that eldest was suffering in her T Shirt whilst my hoodie kept the I C Y blast from making my hands shake so much and ruining the photogenic moment + FUD.

Seriously can people not just look out the fking window and say, hey that BBC weather report was bks??
