And that is from what counting they are doing, I suspect (as do most Wonks as Fif would say), it is much higher than those figures suggest.

Not much to say these days, ridiculously busy, 6 am starts 1am next day finishes mostly.

Still reading the thread but must be missing many gems as I just see a page of XJFlyer dribble and fast forward.

not sure if i am missing something, but that says net migration this year to June, i.e. just half the year, is 260,000.

Not "this", but "the". Ie, June 2013 to June 2014.

Surely the prospect of ousting Milipede is enough to get sufficient Tories to switch to UKIP?!

One for the anti-UKIPers:

"on the basis of this snapshot Nigel Farage may not find himself in parliament at all. I found the Tories five points ahead in Thanet South, with 34% to UKIP’s 29%."

The analysis that I posted a few days ago based on constituency level weighting, if anybody bothered to look at the table listing each seat individually showed Farage, based on current info, has about a 40% chance of winning the seat.

Ashcroft applying his fudge factor puts it closer than that, which is fair enough I think, as the other analysis makes no adjustment for big names standing in a seat for the first time and so on.

Its just part of the story. And until someone else (USA?) opens up some mines, yes China is the source. Either accept the theory of comparative advantage or offer an alternative explanation.
There's plenty of Monazite sand in India; time for a commonwealth REE effort? The problem isn't finding REE, it's the purifying/smelting as China's industrial policy has been to undercut and put out of business all other REE foundries. REEs are commonly found in tailings from iron, nickel, phosphate and other kinds of mines, so there's no need to bother digging them up specifically.

Why would anyone want to oust Miliband? He's the best election advert for the tories and UKIP.

So will Cameron's speech kill UKIP?

If he does, as expected, set out some red lines which could mean he campaigns for Brexit, will Wombat Zod et al who were most vocal that this was a wrong thing to do then change?
