Who invited that audience?

The black guy going on about millionaires is none other than jamil Edwards, multi-millionaire film maker.

I mean, how pathetic is this?

This constant underhanded way the media treat UKIP is the best way to drive people toward them.
Dave and Ed will be treated like royalty by comparison.

I'm not sure, it may drive people towards them because it creates a lot of noise and headlines. If UKIP achieved headlines and were written about in a common sense/fashionable way like the main parties are I think they'd do even better.

It was nice to see that about 70% of the votes were in support of Nigel.
So why were the 70% not represented on the panel or on TV in general, for example Question Time etc.
mmmmmmmm makes you wonder.

Anyone see the Leaders live debate?

I missed it, started 5:30pm. You can watch it here, skip to 38mins

http://www.itv.com/news/2014-12-02/leaders-live-uk...
he would utterly, utterly, destroy any other current uk politician in a face to face debate .no wonder dave ,ed and nick are cagey about facing him. to be fair,it says as much about the quality,or lack of, of today,s politicians as it does about him.

'Farage confused over Ukip’s sex education policy at young voters’ event'
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/dec/03/ni...

He did so well in the face of smug, young, would be 'makers of a name for themselves', thats all the anti paper can dredge up.

and this from the other anti-paper.

The only quote is from a poor confused person who extends his family history into future government policy!
What an idiot, his 'argument' should have been demolished and him made to look the selfish tt he is, but of course, in public, politicians have to 'play nice' to avoid being word sliced into undesired headlines.

"At times, the atmosphere felt like an unruly classroom with most of Mr Farage’s points being met with hostility.

Ukip leader Nigel Farage during the debate Ukip leader Nigel Farage during the debate
On the topic of immigration, one member of the audience drew on his grandmother’s experience of coming to the UK, saying that Ukip was “absolutely dangerous to this country”.

“When my nan came over here, she worked in poor conditions in poor housing, for half the price that white people were paid,” he said, adding: “After the war, we were begging people to come to work in Britain because of the labour shortage and now you’re telling us we should close our borders.”"

I can understand people voting UKIP as a sort of protest but, were they to actually get in, agree it would be akin to having a dump in your hotel bed (in protest against poor service), only to then realise you're left having to sleep in a shi tty bed.

In fairness Nick Clegg participated in two live debates a while ago, didn't come across very well though, as the publics reaction to the debates clearly showed.

yup, and if Cleggie had a time machine, you can bet he would not repeat that offer!

The debate's youtube comments make for interesting reading with much sympathy for Farage and little patience for many of those asking the questions in the debate.

Once again some of the MSM's reports on the event are looking decidedly out of touch with public sentiment.

Although I don't expect them to 'get in' any time soon, I don't share your pessimism about if they did.

The Guardian article above is way off the mark. Way way way, quite hard to believe. Like cheering the coalitions success in eliminating the deficit way off the mark.

I couldn't be bothered to read the Independent, no comments allowed though I notice?

Issues including recession, austerity, a lack of social housing and poverty were given as potential reasons for the rise in support for the party.

Speakers said they believe Ukip and its members across the country are blaming people’s concerns around issues such as strains on the NHS, housing and schools on immigrants.

Jon Woods, chairman of Portsmouth Trades’ Council, was one of the speakers. He said: ‘People can unite around the need to stand up to Ukip. Farage is a con artist. We’re legitimising them through parties working with them on Portsmouth City Council.’

Zuber Hatia, a prominent figure in Portsmouth’s Muslim community and a community activist, said he and mosques in the city had been targeted by racists in the past.

‘We’ve seen the mosques targeted by the English Defence League, the British National Party and Britain First,’ he said.

‘What Ukip try to project to ordinary people is they are not racist. Ukip are liars. We need people to come together who have an anti-Ukip voice and challenge them.
Complete and utter bile. None of those involved in a coalition to fight UKIP deserve to be elected. In fact I'm quite amazed that people who are so hard of thinking managed to get elected in the first place.

In my opinion of course... i.e. I don't think a Tory party whose mission seems to be keeping Labour out, rather than being conservative is deserving of my vote. People are voted in to attempt to implement their policies, not to spend their time conspiring with other rival parties against another.

Agreed.

The current Conservative party seem to be devoid of principles.

The really strange thing is that they have increased spending while talking about austerity. Weird!

UK foreign aid bill could cost £1BILLION more than expected as Tory rebels plot revolt

Our GNI is higher than previously thought. I wonder if that's at least in part because of changes in the way it is calculated (inc. coke and hookers to calculate EU contributions etc).

Anyway, therefore because of Camerons commitment to pay 0.7% in overseas aid, we'll be giving away more.

Farage said:
Of the £11 billion a year that we spend on foreign aid, only £2 billion of it is spent on genuine humanitarian [things], you know, inoculation or clean water.

So I’d cut £9 billion from that because frankly it’s just being used as an arm of foreign policy.
Is there a behind the scenes force that is driving the main parties obsession with ring-fencing our aid budget? Seems bizarre when we still have a massive deficit and no carriers with planes on them (amongst other things).
