project management (PM'ing is a big part of The Apprentice for those not familiar with "the process")
Have to disagree with you there

What they call project mgt (or indeed many others do) bears no relationship whatsoever to real project management.

They are merely the latest and worst step in degrading what that phrase means.
Yes, I was being sarcastic.

Just wanted to explore how this "points based system" of immigrant selection that UKIP are so fond of pushing for will catch the right fish.

The UK is doing moderately well in spite of EU membership not because of it.
That is the basis of your point. That is all you have?
Thats what the various studies have said. For starters read;

No it doesn't. You seem to be conflating two different issues.

Lots of employers struggle to get employees because the work is quite demanding and the pay isn't great. However for some people from Eastern Europe and elsewhere the pay is comparatively quite good so they're prepared to do the work. It's a win-win for UK employers and EE immigrants.

Are all Eastern Europeans "Slavs"?
So an admission that it is all about cheap labour. When the economy needs a massive increase in income levels and reduction in the labour supply which recognises the the idea of British jobs for British workers. At a wage which reflects the expectations of a modern western industrialised economy not Eastern Europe.

Yes, in the same way that all Romanians are Roma. I can get one of our Romanian graduates from the structures department on the floor below to giver her thinking on that if needed, should be entertaining.

It's about time we got back on to East Europeans, it's been a while on this thread.

Do you all not get a bit bored of the immigration nonsense?

Do I have to raise the point about Draghi's bust up with the Irish government on the Euro thread where Stefan, DJRC and 3 others might read it?

Or in the way that indigenous workers are workshy layabouts who need to be replaced by east european labour to minimise wage costs.

So if the EU is such a fantastic thing why is Greece,Spain, Portugal in such a bad way, why is resentment of the EU spreading all over the EU, its days are numbered, those in charge just don't realise it yet.
We should all be working toward a common goal together, yes?
Only take out of the EU as much as you need & put in what you can. This is the way forward for all humanity. You just don't see it yet. wink

Most of the Romanians (and Poles etc) I have met tend to be well educated and have a damn good work ethic - but like all countries there are the fair share of useless twazzocks.

More and more people are recognising the quack of deluded EU ducks. Take out what you need and put in what you canhehe anyone would think that marxism hadn't collapsed. Fail, do not join the EZ, do not pass the chance to get the heck out of Dodge aka the corrupt and costly EU.

Long live the EU!
Yet you prefer to gamble heavily on continuing decline due to incessant unfair and vastly increasing EU membership conditions which do not favour this Nation overall as a whole, only a diminishing segment thereof.

I was one of the many who voted YES back in the 1970s. I did NOT vote for the situation we have today and for far too many years since.

Just maybe those of whatever facet of the political spectrum we entrust to this Nation's continuing well being will come to fully understand the true meaning of the word unsustainable.

One can live in hope but, that's all it is. Some hope.

In which case you'll be voting 'OUT'.

PS add corruption, incompetence and post-marxist delusion to the list.

Not only "useless twazzocks" there are many far less desirables.

Those immigrants of any background that reach these islands by whatever means will obviously have some get up and go about them. Be they decent types or the high percentage of criminal types or even murderers our laconic wide open doors approach to all obtains.

Check the headlines on even the sanitized BBC newscasts as well as other media over the past decade and see the numerous hugely negative instances which that careless "open to all" approach has allowed to happen.

There again, it may simply be pure coincidence. So as you were. Nothing done.
