Of more note to me is the increasing number of fake UKIP accounts on Twitter. Some are set up, promote UKIP policies, get followed then say something outrageous and are reported by by MSM as sources of outrageous UKIP behaviour! When UKIP say they are not genuine accounts after they are taken at face value by the media it's too late. It would be interesting to know if it's individuals or groups that have been producing them.
I hope you save some Bacofoil for the turkey.
There are several examples. Would evidence of them persuade you to apologise for the bacofoil comment or would I be better trying to get a reasoned debate out of the foil wrapped and pleasantly stuffed turkey?

What about privatising the NHS? Or binning the right to paid holidays, sick leave and maternity leave?
Are these UKIP policies?

If they are not UKIP policies, are you a liar?

Strictly speaking, you are not a liar. You didn't say that UKIP want to privatise the NHS. You also did not say that they want to get rid of paid holidays. And you didn't say that they want to do away with sick leave and maternity leave.

What was the point of your post?

He is right, the fake UKIP account on Twitter has happened more than once, although I obviously cannot verify as to whom has started said accounts.

In fact I believe someone also started a North London Labour account that was fake, and carried on in a similar fashion - and those comments were picked up and reported online.

But just stupid enough to report it as fact in mainstream papers without corroboration! (Or foil...)

Anyway, Merry Christmas! I hope those of you who haven't been too naughty on here get treated to a fine Christmas present or two. I'm holding out for the Lotus Carlton I keep promising myself biggrin

Very boring to see you sad sacks attempt personal attacks rather than telling us what you stand for.
The odd thing is though, that when I tried to discuss policies, you point blank refused to discuss them.

But you are quite happy to throw insults at Cameron, Clegg and Miliband. Repeatedly

I will happily discuss policies again in the new year. Will you be ready to defend UKIPs this time?

UKIP are far from faultless, but I think the general standard of reporting about them spends too much time trying to be sneering and not enough time asking the more serious questions that need asking. The recent UKIP PPC who resigned after the 'chinky' comment was a classic example (along with Bolter) of someone who shouldn't have made the cut as a candidate.
That's the UK's media for you! That applies to many other organisations and individuals not just political ones. For years I have been convinced our media are on balance, harmful to the nation as a whole in so many ways.

With a very few exceptions, the UK's media have such a distorted reporting view invariably looking for the negative slant always high on their agenda. This slant affecting a very wide range of news related items.

I live in hope that one day they will actually tell it like it is not how they want us to see it. Some hope.

I get the DT on iPad subscription and whilst my political beliefs haven't changed from when I was an anti EU conservative, some of the opinion pieces have seemed like anti UKIP rants rather than serious journalism. Here's a recent one explaining how 'all UKIP policies come draped in casual misogyny like a dirty old mac'..

Only one article but not uncommon recently.

I'm concerned now, according to that I need to "fred about this stuff too"? I don't know what that means? I guess I'm one of those thickies that doesn't understand things frown

Why do you say things you 'don't know what that means'?

I have no idea what you are on about.

A sentence in the article in the screen shot says "Actually, men need to fred about this stuff, too"

I don't know what it means to "fred" about something.

this is what find so depressing about the media today...

Every interview you see on TV is about crap, very little actually digs into policy details etc, it's all sensationalist fluff.

I like listening to LBC's phone Farage, but what a wasted opportunity it always ends up being, rather than discuss the important issues or policy, direction, etc we end up on totally irrelevant trivia - Breast feeding, use of the word e, etc etc etc, none of which is in any way important or vital in the future of this country yet the media just can't help themselves.

Another classic issue is the soft interview, watch the Labour energy woman on BBC the other morning spouting total rubbish about green this and that, and how it's nothing to do with people in fuel poverty, yet it's totally unchallenged, and this is a critical issue for the country.

Anyway, rant over!

Merry Christmas all!

Yeah, I kind of was - the super intellectual newspaper writer telling me (the thick UKIP supporting type) that I need to be concerned about something but getting it wrong.

I've had too many alcohol-infused chocolates this morning already biggrin

I will join you on those soon, Merry Christmas!

Keep the faith (it cant be more than that) as it will get worse in the media as so many are threatened by the rise of 'everyman' support for UKIP.

James Carver UKIP MEP tries to find out why the EU appear to be going against the advice they gave to him the month earlier, about the EU not being able to recognise nation states. Instead of letting him finish his question or point of order, they start to turn off his microphone!

The point he's making seems to be relevant as a point order, do they do this because they don't want a record of what is said or because someone in the background determines what our elected MEPs can say within acceptable bounds? Or is there another reason? Farage gets to make the point without having his microphone cut afterwards.
