Thats OK then:

'Grant Shapps, the Conservative chairman, said claims that Ukip was about to suspend Amjad Bashir before he jumped ship were “complete nonsense” and that the Conservatives were satisfied Bashir had a clean record.'

What strikes me about the whole Bashir affair is just how different UKIP politicians are to the Tories laughlaughlaugh

But you're prepared to accept this man was a UKIP candidate for 2+ years? You think they didn't check him out? A bit shabby and incompetent, is it not?

I feel the 'journalist' who wrote that tosh will no doubt regret it. The turn coat fool has achieved nothing what so ever during his brief political career other than controversy and like that vile women the other week with the false sexual allegations will drift quietly into political oblivion.

According to tinternet rumblings there are two more of these LabCon shill UKIP defectees that will reveal their true colours in the next few months in an attempt to further disrupt the UKIP surge.

not that it matters, the UKIP Twitter item is timestamped 10:10 AM - 24 Jan 2015

I don't know. but Nick Robinson (twitter), Politics Home and others are all reporting the interview was first

e.g. Nick says
Nick Robinson @bbcnickrobinson · Jan 24
BREAKING UKIP MEP Amjad Bashir defecting to Tories. When party told they suspended him re "extremely serious" financial issues

Nick Robinson @bbcnickrobinson · Jan 24
Hearing UKIP pushed Amjad Bashir when party heard he was jumping sides. More to come

He also says
Good day for lawyers...@Nigel_Farage throws eye watering corruption & extremism allegations at ex-UKIP star turn @AmjadBashirMEP - now Tory

I don't usually hope for lawyers to get involved, but in this case I think it would be a good idea, to find out what the truth really is.

What different language to that with which you welcomed reckless and Carswell jumping ship.

And this UKIP surge. A surge is usually up. This is more like an ebb.

And thats before the last few days
And we haven't even got on to Richardson's comments yet, e.g.
"the Reichstag bunker of socialism is the National Health Service.”

This is one story and that should be in the news, especially if all the evidence about Bashir being a bit shady is true, and is proven via a police investigation. It can only show UKIP in a good light as a transparent party trying to do the right thing.

Or, it could all be lies, and the Tories planted Bashir in UKIP as part of their grand plan....

Who knows...

Or if you believe the UKIP allegations, he is part of a Labour plot to rig the UKIP candidate elections.

I did say that I don't have the time of the interview. The BBC are saying it was previous to that. As he met Cameron yesterday, I don't suppose that was jacked up at a few hours notice, so I would assume, but have no hard evidence, it was at least a few days ago.

Certainly have no reason to doubt the BBC assertion that the jump came before the push- do you?

If you and he are snidely suggesting i am a bigot, would you list the 'bigoted' statements I have made?

I am getting sick of the mentally challenged on here who are not used to a contrary opinon and simply cant hack it.

We earlier had the sad spectacle of TKF being unable to read or comprehend and making a nasty arse of himself.
NicD, for clarity, my comment was NOT aimed at you.
Perhaps it might be better if you just said what you want to say.

Your snide comments are unintelligible to the rest of us.

these are the UKIP 'allegations':

Amjad Bashir, a Member of the European Parliament for the United Kingdom Independence Party has today been suspended pending investigations into a number of issues which we consider to be extremely serious.

Mr Bashir has been informed of the specifics of the investigations which include unanswered financial and employment questions, interference with UKIP candidate selection processes and a continued affiliation with Mujeeb Bhutto, despite the party’s protests against Mr Bhutto’s involvement with Mr Bashir or UKIP.

A UKIP spokesman said: "The UK Independence Party has a zero-tolerance policy and takes the matters at hand extremely seriously. The allegations against Mr Bashir are of a grave nature and we will be forwarding our evidence obtained so far to the police.

"UKIP will not tolerate anyone abusing their positions in the party, as we have a firm commitment to differing ourselves from the existing political classes. As a result, Mr Bashir’s involvement with the party was suspended today with immediate effect pending further investigations.

I doubt it's a coincidence that UKIP have found him to be dodgy JUST as he defected to the Tories. My guess is they were happy to keep him until they found out he was going and then decided to shout "No, I'm dumping you. Welcome to dumpsville: Population YOU!" And then texted all their mates to say they were the dumper, not the dumpee biggrin

Incidentally is Winston McKenzie still a member of UKIP or has he been dumped as well?

The allegations are just that at the moment… but, it does UKIP no favours that Farage has said he has been a problem for months. Which of the other UKIP candidates are possible wuckfits that we haven't heard about yet?

On the other hand, the conservatives by cancelling Bashir's weekend interviews aren't showing the same exultation that UKIP had when Carswell and Reckless swapped sides. Bashir was elected on the promise that if he changed his mind about the party he would resign - he hasn't so I am unimpressed.

The affair shows UKIP as amateurish and possibly worried about upsetting an ethnic minority candidate, but it shows the conservatives as opportunistic and possibly guilty of thinking they are smarter and sharper than they are.

No one is covered in glory on this one.

The Tories have been too hasty, this could hurt them more than it helps.

Well yes and no. They have leaked minutes that allege a Labour conspiracy

If you look at the link Steve350c quoted earlier today, that links to these leaked minutes

http://www.scribd.com/doc/253620071/Bradford-selec...

These include the following statements (I appreciate that the snippets below are out of context but I don't think I am distorting their meaning and you can check yourself on the link above). Spelling mistakes are theirs

UKIP minutes said:
The fact that this seems to have been aucastrated by a man in the employment of Amjad Bashir MEP (either Hassan Munir or Mujeeb Bhutto) makes the issue even more concerning –...
This could be even more embarrassing for UKIP if the media got hold of it and all our Keighley members know who he is and know he was present at the hustings. (4) A new member [REDACTED] [REDACTED] has confided in me that he was told to meet another new member Nazim Ali who then took him to see the Labour candidate for Bradford East (Imran Hussain) who offered him a deal to step down from UKIP and rejoin Labour. We are confident that Nazim Ali and possibly his colleague Wajid Janghir (another new member) are Labour plants and we need to know how to deal with this. Can you terminate REDACTED membership? (5) The feeling of members is that this hustings was a set up, that the new members were not people who are committed to UKIP.

...
The below verifies what [REDACTED] [REDACTED] told our Web Manager James Vasey the other day, so whoever recruited these “members” at the meeting looks like they’re affiliated with Labour

After the Council meeting in Bradford I was approached by Khadim Husain who is a senior member of the Labour Party and represents Keighley Central. He was aware I chaired the meeting Saturday last to select some candidates for Keighley, he wanted to congratulate me on the selection of 3 Asian candidates to stand for UKIP in, Keighley West, East and Central Wards. I was at a loss as to why or how he was aware of this as this selection was supposed to be restricted to UKIP Party members only. To my surprise he knew the names of the individuals who had been selected, and the Wards they were selected to stand this I found strange. My suspicions that voting on the day was manipulated by some external force who do not have the parties interests at heart

I read them but they are internal working notes, not public 'allegations'.

Do we get to read the internal machinations in Labour or the Conservatives?
I am sure there have been plenty of juicy stories there.

Not that I care, but just for balance.
