Only here would a bunch of people be glad someone died whilst committing a minor crime. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
some one stole the opel wheel centres off my old astra which cost me £5 from a car show, and for 3 or 4 days afterwards I was fking livid. If I'd have found the person, I'd be looking at a long prison sentence, all over a £5 bit of plastic. WHY ? 1) Because I'm never going to get a bargain like that again. 2) because they was mine. 3) because I'd have rather they'd taken the car and left the wheel centres 4) There is no deterrent that would stop these little sts. I bought an old bike off a bloke at work with post code and frame number recorded, which cost me £40. I gave it to my son whilst he was at university and some fecker stole it. If the tt that has no mates to sell him a cheap bike or can't afford a £40 bike (with Provenance) died on his way home, from stealing mine, then I think I'd have been glad. I hope he dies.
I refuse to be ashamed.
Given the 'once a thief always a thief' mindset that seems to be the norm, hopefully this article may make some think again:

Yes, but many of the police are purely government stooges these days, more than a few with issues and on power trips. Just because of their jobs I wouldn't say they are particularly admirable group of people.http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2012/jan/02/police-9...
About 20 years ago I had my bicycle stolen. That bike was bought by me having worked long hours at low wage as a school boy, and was my pride and joy. At the time I'd have thought drowning was too good for the thief.
With 2 decades to reconsider that view, I probably think that drowning would be about right.

Better hope you don't get burgled and lose something genuinely precious then. Otherwise your decades long suppressed sense of bitter rage will kill you, and the thief will be laughing his tits off. With 2 decades to reconsider that view, I probably think that drowning would be about right.

I guess having ambulance crews take risks to resuscitate people, or police to visit homes of bereaved familes is ok to you is it? And what about the £millions spent on inquests? All ok is it so you can satisfy the bloodhungry lust of the uneducated?
Sorry, I really dont understand what point you are trying to make here? Pints said:

I'll agree to that, I had a bike stolen about the same age & still wish them death or serious injury for it.With 2 decades to reconsider that view, I probably think that drowning would be about right.

Some people seem to be asking if we think this is a just punishment for him.
But I don't understand that - it's not a punishment. It was an accident which precludes him from receiving a reasonable punishment. I could cycle into a harbour accidentally on my own bicycle and drown.
And that would be an unfortunate tragedy. But I don't understand that - it's not a punishment. It was an accident which precludes him from receiving a reasonable punishment. I could cycle into a harbour accidentally on my own bicycle and drown.

Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine!Suppressed bitter rage? No. But if I was told now that the thief had drowned or been hit by an 18-wheeler while making his escape, I'd be satisfied that he had his comeuppance.
This place really has gone to st.

As far as I'm concerned, breaking a leg is a 'suitable' comeuppance for nicking a bike.
Losing your life might be a 'suitable' comeuppance for taking someone else's.
