NUS refuse to condemn ISIS

The more I read from these student groups the more I'm convinced that modern unis are just moron circuses catering for those who crave attention but are terrified about being challenged about their views.
There seem to be two perfect solutions for these 'people'-
1, Ignore them into they go away and are flattened by reality.
2, Use them as bait during shark week.
Clearly the best answer is obvious, shark week is awesome.

another person who cannot seperate the NUS, from Institution's SUs and the HEI itself ... There seem to be two perfect solutions for these 'people'-

Yah, but 'moron circus' seems to be a fairly good description of the NUS and the sort of student bodies/societies with dubious agendas or engaged in identity 'politicalling', which is mostly about championing themselves.
which there has always been within the NUS and the individual HEI SUs (unless and until there is direct action by the silent majority of students - which occasionally there is in a 'not in my name ' way ) ...the actual HEI has jack all to do with it ...
Thought this was an April 1st story until I checked the date.

A university student was threatened with being thrown out of a meeting after being accused of violating “safe space” rules - by raising her hand.
Imogen Wilson, the vice-president for academic affairs at Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA), spoke out against safe space rules becoming “a tool for the hard left to use when they disagree with people”, following the incident last week.
Ms Wilson, 22, was subject to a “safe space complaint” over her supposedly “inappropriate hand gestures” during a student council meeting.

Unfortunately this nonsense is making students and modern university look even more pathetic.

In 1944, 16-18 year olds jumped off boats in to hail of gunfire and almost certain death to storm the beaches of Normandy. In 2016, 16-18 year olds need a safe space because words hurt.

I am soooo glad I'm not a student - I suspect that my “inappropriate hand gestures” may well be more deserving of being censured! As an aside she was also told off for shaking her head!!!!telegraph said:

Everyone knows the NUS has always, unfortunately, been prone to hijack by those whose principal aim in HE is to get into the organisation and inflict their micro-minded world views onto others in a semi-dictatorial manner.
The NUS was a joke when I was a student thirty years ago. Peopled with professional students destined to never get a proper job, largely, with the odd helpful individual thrown in to confuse matters.I was incensed that membership was mandatory at my Uni. I absolutely would not have joined if it was possible not to.
These days I would refuse on ideological grounds and stand my ground about not joining if I ever went back to education as a mature student.
