I guess reports of MPs awarding themselves a 10% payrise doesn't help

And in this you reveal the perils of a little knowledge. Water cannons for london = how much? Cost of dealing with the deficit = how much? The suggestion implicit in your comment is that the choice was between buying water cannons or spending the same money dealing with austerity. You have to understand the scale of the problem to realise just how far apart those numbers are.
I admit my energy has been focused on just that with my laymen level of knowledge on most subjects.

However, im a voting member of public if i chose to be, yet i feel my vote will only fall on making things carry on the way they are.

I am willing to give up a lot if it meant key changes were made and the future secured. I know it's a hard thing to ask of people, but something needs to wake the public up soon, im not jumping on the hippy bandwagon and hugging trees, but if you look at the numbers and take a sit down it's all going to merry hell.

Youre right Andy in a lot of your post, but i still feel readying yourself to fight the public against popular unrest is not going to go well.
