@David_Cameron: I'm angry at the sudden presentation of a â?¬2bn bill to the UK by the EU. It's an appalling way to behave and I won't be paying it on Dec 1st
Won't be paying it full stop! There is no way he can pay this. Germany and France get money back!

World Population is 7.15Bn
UK population is 64m
I would rather we made stuff that sold to the 7Bn and we reaped the huge rewards that this would bring, we could import all we wanted then and still be in a trading surplus, just like China but without the communism.
You've missed the bit that most of that 7Bn can't afford to buy what we've got to sell.At least until we've given them the money to buy it with first. While most of those who can afford it can only do so because they didn't follow your ideas.IE Germany not China. While even at best your idea just turns us into a slave state working for everyone else in the world.UK population is 64m

of the ~430m EU nationals, how many can afford *anything*?
now look at the est of the world, China - yes, there are many poor people, BUT there are a st load of rich ones too, ask Jaguar-Landrover, Bentley, etc.
then look the other way, the US, they buy nothing?
then we get to the APAC countries, they never buy anything either?
so, do you want to trade with 7Bn people or 430m?

The problem with being weasely with your words, is when we all know what the outcome will be, and exactly what you really mean...I'm just wondering what the headlines would be if we would've be liable to receive a rebate or whatever it's called and France and Germany refused to pay? Tbh it doesn't bother me as 2bn is probably nothing compared to what we spend on the wars we've been fighting for no reason. Didn't Cameron go and shout at other countries who didn't pay enough to stop Ebola?

so, just to put some background to this, the order is:
Nope but at least we aren't France. They just had Hollande on bbc news gloating about his €1bn rebate for running his country in to the ground. - Lib/Lab/Con's all agreed the budget formula
- UK ONS provided the figures
- EU apply the formula
- Lib/Lab/Con's all fain surprise!

Let's hear your version of where we are then......

I thought it was clear enough.Firstly we're in a trade deficit situation with Germany which we take on debt to pay for.Cameron pretends the debt is less than it actually is to show that we're 'recovering' to get himself elected. The EU says great then you can afford to pay the Germans even more for the privilege.
Are you suggesting the national debt is caused by a trade deficit?Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
