Sounds like the old biddy on Facebook made the whole thing up. Shame. Morrisons and others might think twice about helping charities in future.

The first I heard about this was when my mrs read it off the "RM WAGS" Facebook page. I just rolled my eyes and carried on building lego with our son

For once, the mass PH reaction is dead on.

Even IF true, so one bell end manager acts like a bell end... It's hardly news. Bell ends will be bell ends; it's no great indication of the wider capitalist society that we live in. It's just one dick being a cock.

Apologies for all the wang references.

In my expeience (as a Secretary of a RAFA Banch) Morrisons are particuarly bad (at Company level) in supporting Service Charities.

We have an 11 day collection at the store I work in every year
11 days seems apt for the 11/11/11 but I'm surprised your company hasn't had a misinformed 'vindictive' social media campaign against it yet as many other companies allow more than 11 days,

These highly misinformed social media campaigns need to be reigned in sometimes by a few well placed facts.

Was the same at the Ross-on-Wye Morrison's yesterday. Poppy sellers huddled by the door with next to no room to move and you wouldn't notice them until you left the store. Whereas the table showing their match and more card had most of the space in the foyer making no impact at all.

It already is!

Quite amusing to read their ranting about Poppy sellers, considering that they rip off the Royal British Legion all year round by selling poppy merchandise without donating a penny to them.
Same with their various other fronts (Lionheart GB, I am proud to wear a poppy, etc) . I was banned from the last page for asking if they were connected to Britain First.

“On the first day of collecting for the Poppy Appeal 2014 Legion collectors were offered positions both inside and outside the Morrisons in Taunton and chose the outside position as there was a higher footfall.

“We are grateful to Morrisons, as we are to all commercial outlets, who permit Poppy Appeal collections on their sites throughout the UK and in doing so strengthen our fundraising efforts so the legion can continue to offer vital support and care to the Armed Forces community.

“Our collectors will continue to be on site in Morrison's in Taunton until the end of the Poppy Appeal, so please do visit them to make a donation.

“Thank you for the support.”

I haven't seen the manager of the store, so are you saying he is now the victim of racists because of his skin colour or ethnic background ?

Social media at its worst. A company like Morrisons can deal with this without it causing their business any harm but had this been a small business it could habe caused them some real problems.

The lady in question, Veronica Roach is still standing by her account. rolleyes
