Busybody on Facebook with half a grasp of reality + Lots of people quick to take offence on behalf of others = viral nonsense and faux outrage + fodder for racist and xenophobic bellends.
I haven't seen the manager of the store, so are you saying he is now the victim of racists because of his skin colour or ethnic background ? Mr_B said:

Where's the race element then ? I don't get why you added that part and then why DeanR32 is in agreement with you on this, it's quite bizarre both of you condemn as aspect which as far as we know isn't present. Haven't you just made a mockery of what both of you were complaining about ?
You know those equally bogus stories which claim that a certain school/council/etc had banned the word 'Christmas' so as not to offend a certain demographic? Well nobody is directly racially abused there either, but the faux outrage caused can be used to further a racist agenda.TTwiggy said:

Your example at least contains a tiny element of why some might ask if there is a perceived race element based on a claim of banning the word Christmas , or such like. I must have missed something in this story because no one has claimed any racism and there is no basis to, not even of the flimsiest of evidence. Two white people having a non disagreement now has some race element questions asked and perceived. Madness.

I'm watching to see how this story grows - I've already seen versions where he's 90 and was forcibly ejected from the store. By the end of the week, he'll be a 102 year old in a wheelchair and it'll claim the collecting tins where stolen and sent to fund IS .

Are you sure you haven't read the comments on their FB page? They're saying pretty much that. Plus several comments that if they were Moslem (their spelling..) then it wouldn't have happened.

Nope, haven't read them. But it's depressingly easy to predict how these things will go. Their stock-in trade is twisting every story (or non-story in this case) to paint a picture of a Britain that would be better if only we respected servicemen and kicked out anyone who came from somewhere else. It's not the posters on PH that are conflating this story with race, it's the opportunist racists.

How does his story make you feel, out of curiosity?
