That should be the case. My post wasn't about encouraging the problem.

Libya does not exist; there are some enclaves run by the government, some run by an array of warlords and militias and wide expanses of lawlessness. Until that is rectified expecting any positive action on these migrants is so much wishful thinking.
That's far too commonsense an approach!

FFS Mojocvh. Every comment you post is anti Tory, anti Private enterprise, anti capitalist. And on each one yiu make a price of yourself. Everyone is entitled to opinions, but yours are just sooooo predictable, boring, and irrelevant.

What about warmongering Labour who took us into Iraq?
What about them?

LOOK AT THE TITLE OF THE THREAD FOR STARTERS.

THE TORIES SUPPORTED REGIME CHANGE. YES OR NO

AS BEEN MENTIONED, ABOVE, BEFORE THAT HE [GAHDAFFI] WAS TRYING TO CONTROL, UNDER WESTERN INFLUENCE, THE MIGRANT "TRADE"

LOOK WHAT WE HAVE DONE. LOOK AT THE DESPERATE STATE OF THE ENTIRE REGION NOW THAT THE "RULER" HAS BEEN REMOVED, AGAIN AT THE BEQUEST OF POWER HUNGRY WESTERN POLITICIANS...

IF ANYTHING YOUR POST SHOULD BE HELD UP AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THERE IS NO PRACTICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WARMONGERING LIARBOUR AND TORIES.

I realise that many will find that their beloved Conservative party being slighted in this way unpleasant, but I will ask you what your opinions are as Cameron has just said that we could use "our" foreign aid budget to "stabilise" such countries.

So what's he saying?? now we fund IS or it's offshoots in Libya ???

WELL?

ps

FFS yourself.

David Cameron’s irresponsible and ignorant intervention in Libya (which alone should be enough to ensure he never holds responsible office again) is now causing one of the greatest human upheavals of modern times.

A wave of human misery is now heading to Europe – and eventually to Britain – from the fiery chaos of post-Cameron Libya.
Another wave of migrants is on its way (but don't you dare mention it)

Let them drown, if we save them they'll only cost us more money we haven't got. They should stay & sort their own country out, how do they think the west improved?

In our case we sorted our country out by buggering up there's for them. The we played cold war games using them as pawns, then we bombed the c**p out of them recently when the assorted loonies we were pals with during the cold war turned against us.

So to be honest they probably wouldn't be trying to come over here if we hadn't been busily bombing the crap out of them. Libya is a mess. We were bombing it to pieces the other year. Maybe we should have stayed in our own country?

Letting them drown is unacceptable. So what is the acceptable solution to prevent this illegal & murderous trade.

In my view, blockading the Lybian ports to cut off the source, combined with flying those that do make it/who are rescued back to their home countries so that the journey is seen as futile would be the most humane response whilst maintaining border integrity.

We cannot simply let them drown.

You overlook the fact that most of the migrants are not from Libya.

They chose to get in the boat- we didn't force them.

So if a million attempt the crossing, does it still remain simple?

This is an illegal trade, kind of slavery. Has to be stopped. Amistad

Of course it is, there is more to it than just getting on a boat. I do not see it as that simple.

Yes, it is.

They don't have to get on the boat. If they choose to do so it doesn't magically become our problem if it sinks. They are responsible for their actions & the consequences thereof.

Perhaps harsh, but very simple.

If only we had a servicable Navy these days.
