Her tweet was judgemental and prejudiced. And, as it turns out, entirely correct.

Our working class hero has the tattoo of a knuckle duster on his forearm, flies the flags to annoy ethnic minorities and wants immigrants sent home.

I very much doubt he listens to erasure and wears a onesie to bed.

I know people who look like him. Tattoos and skinheads and the like. Difference is, I know them not to be flying flags to piss the "ethnics" off. I probably wouldn't know them if they did.

We all judge on fist impressions. I'm sure you all did initially.

He said he flies the flag despite the snobbery and what he thought was the dislike of it by minorities and wants illegal immigrants sent back. But yeah, when you add your own little twists and leave bits out , it does sound how you want to portray it, I would agree.

Now who is spinning? He doesn't mention illegal immigrants at all.

We get it. You are a carbon copy of our hero. Sorry if you've heard some hurtful truths over the weekend.

I'd go with this. I suppose someone who represents the people, maybe shouldn't mock the people.

She didn't half hit the nail on the head though. He suits the make up of that gaff to a tee!

He should have smarten himself up a bit. Maybe at least look like she might have been off the mark

There was an article in the Telegraph at the weekend that hit the nail on the head. It said the Labour Party used to be a coalition of the readership of the Guardian and the Mirror.

Now it is just the readership of the Guardian.

Agreed.

It is distasteful and unwise for a politician to be so summarily judgemental. That she is also a barrister is frankly very worrying, given the bias and prejudice she appears to carry.

That, in retrospect, some of the guy's quoted (media can and do spin and embellish) comments might validate certain of those prejudices is neither here nor there.

Never judge a book by its cover.

As per the above and comments following Rochester & Strood, the Labour Party in reality now represents the upper echelons of the public sector, and even then not too well. The idea that London-centric mansion dwelling millionaires can be anything other than completely clueless as 'representatives' of working men and women in the streets of Doncaster or Grimsby has always been obvious, the difference now is that it's obvious to many more people. Labour keeps low paid workers and benefits recipients in a state of dependency, that's their means of survival. It may be breaking down.

Not sure it is wise to admit this on PH, but I used to live less than 100 yards from our "hero".

Can't say I know the fellow, but he does seem to fit the assumptions she was making rather well, Ford Escorts, a staff etc etc. My take on it, fwiw, is that she knew as well as anybody that Labour were going to come a distant 3rd with a UKIP victory. So in posting that picture she was saying "look, this constituence is full of scumbags, no wonder they vote UKIP!"

Truth is there are "those" around here (like anywhere), unfortunately they don't all leave flags out after the World Cup to show their location.

Yeah the sanctioning bodies are pretty keen to present a clean image. It's certainly looked down upon and you'd quickly run out of instructors or sparring partners if you're a tosser.
Fortunately, the first thing everyone learns, even the big scary looking fellows, is humility, as you get battered by absolutely everyone and don't understand what just happened smile. That tends to put the tossers off.

'if people show up uninvited, send them back' is what he said and you are referring too. Yet you claim that means he wants ethnic minorities sent home. How did you come to that conclusion from that quote ?

I find people like you very odd. You type away preaching and fighting about how moralistic you and patting yourself on the back for fighting what you see as racism, yet you do so with the same bigotry of just looking at someone and then try and back it up with twisting what he has said and done. I'm not so sure you are any different to the people you pretend to fight against.

we had a lad worked for us for a few years. Didn't look like a nutter, more like a buff, 6'2" boy-band type, but he was hard as nails - a kick boxer FWIW. One of the nicest guys you'd ever have the privilege of working with and completely, totally ruled by his wife, but extremely handy in the ring.

IMHO Judging someone because they happen to fight in the sporting context is very wrong.

The cover was entirely correct. Turn over the page and we see a foreword by Nick Griffin.

The only lesson to learn is don't shout it in public when you're an MP.

Her observation was crass but justified. The only mistake she made was putting them on Twitter rather than just showing them to her Islington set to sneer at.

Likewise the Gillian Duffy episode. The only thing Brown did wrong was get caught.

I'm not a Labour voter but I can't disagree with what either of them said. Duffy and White Van Dan are finalists in Britain's Got Bigots.

Not very good at reading are you?

He flies the flags and knows (how, I wonder?) it annoys ethnic minorities.

Full stop.

New sentence.

He wants uninvited immigrants to be sent home.

I suspect his (and perhaps your) definition of "uninvited" might be different to mine. If they are here and working (as the vast, vast majority are) then that says to me they are ipso facto invited.

So, to be clear, you are advocating that people can and should make summary judgements of people based purely on superficial looks?

Furthermore, you also think it conduct befitting a representative of our legal system to do likewise?

If there was one decent bit of the whole muliticulturalism experiment it was that at least we should view people different to ourselves as being human. If you genuinely feel that anyone who is white, heavily built, shaven-headed, drives a white van and has St George's flags on his house/car/Facebook pages etc. etc. is racist scum then you're disconnected from reality and reason.

Is this the same PH that wants the hijab banned?

Funny how liberal and luvvie it gets round here when one of their own is attacked.

Salt of the earth, he is. Sorry for judging him.
