No charges for Missouri cop who shot unarmed teenager
Discussion
From what I have read, the officer had little choice. All those who say he should have shot him in the leg, forget that police officers in the states die regularly from gunshots. Would anyone in that position really think shoot him in the leg?
Same with the 12 year old boy waving a fake gun around, when an officer told him to put his hands up he went to pull the gun out, again who would wait to see if it was a fake first? Both have cost young blacks their lives.
Now the big question is why are blacks so prone to this sort of incident? Is it because the police are racist? Is it because a proportion of young blacks see the police as target?
What I would like to see is the usual suspects of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton coming out and admitting he was a criminal who pushed his luck to far? Asking questions like why are so many apparently, getting poor educations, becoming gang members. When you have so many good black role models, even a black president, they see no hope.
I find it so hard to understand that if the black community feels the police are racists, why do they not tell their kids to do as they are told, obey the law and study to better themselves and their community.
What does not help is the scenes of looting and violence being carried out. How does this help those who feel justice has failed them?

Short answer yes. Long answer also yes. Also, I am a self defence instructor; it is my job.
I can promise you that at 6'4, 240lbs myself I wouldn't fancy a scrap with a guy from the ghetto of that size. No fking way, if there was ANY alternative whatsoever...especially a weapon.

That is plain stupid. Some police are racist - just like there rest of society. It takes a certain lack of intellect to launch an assault on a person (police or otherwise) who is armed with a deadly weapon. Lack of brain processing capability can lead to inflated bravado and misguided belief in ones capabilities - lots of bullies are thick and of the belief that they can always get their way by intimidation, threat and application of force. Some form the belief that law enforcement would not dare use deadly force against them.
So - my view is that the short and long answer is down to basic lack of intelligence. Stupid is as stupid does.
If you assault a US cop and try to dispossess him/her of their gun - they are going to shoot you - whatever color you may be.

He wasn't inside the car - he attacked the cop through the open drivers door window - being assaulted when you are seated in a car is obviously disadvantageous, despite the assailants size. The cop fired two rounds from inside his vehicle and then extracted himself. Then it was on like donkey kong in the street. He actually fired a further ten .40 cal rounds before he stopped the assailant.
Sounds like he needs to spend some time on the range.......As to the comments about the 70lb weight difference - Wilson is a trained police officer, presumably pretty fit and he carried a night stick. Brown was overweight and unarmed and probably pretty slow.

I think every time people mention the police should shoot to wound or aim for the leg should be directed to this point. It took 7 rounds to put the guy down. Its a shame that his community cant except that maybe he made a bad choice and paid the price. Instead of learning from it they want to go toe to toe with the police and smash and loot there own neighbourhoods. Its beyond belief and incredibly sad

As the son of a tory MP I'll hazard a guess that you're white. Why don't you find a white cop 70lbs lighter than you, punch her in the head a couple of times, try and wrestle her gun off her and let us know how it goes.unrepentant said:

Obviously it was a bit of a generalization Matt....

Would you care to elaborate?I have a number of black friends - smart, successful people and I know that if I spent a day or a week or a month in their skin I would feel differently about the police than I do as a white person.
I live in Atlanta and the police are universally aholes and in fact, don't seem to make much distinction between race, everyone is treated with the same lack of respect, arrogance and assumption of guilt.
