Not sure. I think he was an honest violent criminal.

YMMV.
he committed violent offices as enforcer for criminals engaged in dishonest activities. That makes him dishonest.
Allegedly.
Not allegedly. He was convicted.

Twas a joke, NVM.

I read his book about the 20, possibly embellished but a quick, enjoyable read nevertheless.

"Fraser's methods of torturing the gang's victims earned him the nicknames "Mad Frankie" and "The Dentist" - he was reputed to pull out people's teeth with pliers."

"In 1975 he assaulted three prison officers, one of whom he attempted to hang."

Sounded a lovely chap!

Not even honest by criminal standards from what I have heard.

I don't think the world is a poorer place for his passing.

I read his book
I'm not sure books that allow the author to profit from recounting tales of their own criminality should even be allowed. Or if they are, perhaps taxed at 95%.

I think the law was changed to prevent exactly this.

I honestly don't understand the hero status that some criminals achieve frown

A heartened at the lack of eulogy on display, I think sometimes these old gangsters are kind of looked on as lovable heros in some Elstree Caper comedy, not the violent psychopaths they actually were, or just glamorised. I read a book by that Dave Courtney bloke, truly nauseating and I think, in conjunction with a few films why a lot got the horn for career criminals.

Its a bit like those blokes that get into worshipping anyone who had/has power and was unpleasant/evil, always makes me laugh all those troglodytes Zeig Heiling a picture of Hitler, not realising that if he materialized he would put most of them up against the wall.

Ok to have an interest, but glamourising scumbags is a weird thing to do in my eyes.

Torturer and hit man snuffs it peacefully in bed aged 90 surrounded by loving family.

God has a warped sense of humour.

By all accounts Courtney is the Walter Mitty of the criminal underworld. He may have associated with these people but I don't think he did all that he claims he did.

Any need to pose with the pliers?
He doesn't look like much in the photos, despite his reputation.

"My victims were all criminals. None of them had any class. I never touched anyone from the real world."

Sounds like a tosser to me, no great loss to society, despite the protestations on here and other public outlets of him being an honest, upfront, straight talkin' kinda guy - pulling peoples teeth out as repercussion for alleged slights isn't decent, or gentleman like, more the act of a sadistic arse hole in my mind.

If two men tied you up and tortured you - beatings, teeth pulled, the works, who would you think was worse, the maniac laughing and enjoying it, or the chap who kept silent and treat it as an ordinary occurrence, routine, as it were?

He's dead - good.

hehe

Corrected that for you.

FF was a nutter and a gangland enforcer who had no qualms about inflicting terrible pain on others and whether they were other criminals or not is irrelevant.

Normally I'm not one to rejoice in someone's death but the world will be no worse for his passing.

For me he not only didn't contribute to society in any way, he caused a lot of pain and cost the taxpayer a fortune keeping him off the streets.

He won't be missed by anybody, except friends/family and a few misguided muppets who think it's cool to be a violent criminal.
