Frankie Fraser RIP
Discussion
Threads like this always polarise opinion, and it's fashionable around here to be seen as wishing someone like this a painful death, no loss etc etc.
However, for a lot of people there is a middle ground.
I'm fascinated by the criminal underworld, especially of his era. Why? Because, like it or not, it was a part of society that existed in London at the time. To a degree it fashioned the London of the time and, for want of a better phrase, is a part of history.
So while I won't be pouring out sympathy or grief over his death, I won't be joining the fashion here and hoping it was painful as I don't feel such comments are necessary. They are often spouted by the ill-informed internet warrior IMHO.
FWIW, all the talk of the pliers, teeth pulling etc are often considered to be massively made up by Fraser himself to improve his profile and sell more books. No saint of course, but a character of a time which is of intrigue and interest to many people. Hence why this is news.

The same for me, London history especially WW1,WW2 and the gang period fascinates me aswell, I have met some of these people.. didn't meet Frank. However, for a lot of people there is a middle ground.

"Fraser's methods of torturing the gang's victims earned him the nicknames "Mad Frankie" and "The Dentist" - he was reputed to pull out people's teeth with pliers."
"In 1975 he assaulted three prison officers, one of whom he attempted to hang."
Sounded a lovely chap!
"RIP" be fked!
Dear god what next....Rest In Peace to serial killers & rapists
If he was on social media there would be a dedicated FB page with people with names such as Wayne and Chelsea pouring out their grief..."In 1975 he assaulted three prison officers, one of whom he attempted to hang."

Why aren't you fascinated by the other parts of society at that time that didn't go around killing or maiming people for fun/profit?wiggy001 said:

Nail on head! It's making me laugh that they are still going after you posted this comment aswell. This place is so predictable. In fact I'm 99% sure that OP started this as a wind up to get exactly this reaction. It's actually funny watching everyone bite!dudleybloke said:
I was going to post this as well. "What if you grassed yourself up?"That's the only thing I would ever think of if anyone were to mention this bloke, he'd otherwise be an anonymous nobody as far as I am concerned.
