I bet that didn't get added into the calculation for the supposed net benefit of Euro migrants.

Paul Kohler was a lecturer of mine at UCL back in the day. He was th chap we got called in to see if we'd been misbehaving. A lovely, gentle and very clever man who really didn't deserve this, but then I suppose no one does. Glad they caught the people who did it and hope they rot.

Judge Tapping told them that "only very substantial custodial sentences will be appropriate".

Let's hope so but don't hold your breath folks. rolleyes

15 years (served) confiscation of all UK held assets (if any, doubtful) followed by deportation, a fking good shoeing prior to being put on the plane would be a Brucie bonus.

Yeah, right.
Indeed, and after their sentences they should be sent home and not allowed to return.

Does anyone keep cash any more? I basically only have change for occasional parking.

Of course not. Standard PH anti-UKIP attitude: "The Poles are all hard working and better than the English, every single on of them because I saved £200 on my house being painted, another one washed my car and no Brit applied for the job i advertised at minimum wage working in a field for 80 hours a week".

If the EU allowed the checking of their criminal records back in their country before entry, chances are they would not have been allowed in, just like the Alice Gross Latvian.

It's unrealistic to think that the only low life criminals in the EU are British. The comments about their nationality reminded me of this case:

I didn't know until now that the young man that identified the people on CCTV gave his £10,000 reward money to the victim. What a top chap Lloyd Gardner is.

Paul Kohler seems to be made of pretty stout stuff. I wouldn't have taken that attack as well as he seems to have.

As much as dislike the all pervading CCTV cameras, that's two cases where people have been bought to justice via their use.

I wonder if they got the wrong address as it seems odd that a lecturer would have much money in the house. Hopefully they will get long sentences and deportation at the end.

Well it's good for the doctors who did the facial reconstruction surgery and it's good for the prison officers who'll look after the offenders, then there's the locksmiths, therapists, probation officers, lawyers, 999 operatives, translators, police officers...

The UK isn't producing enough of it's own criminals. The economy relies on hardworking foreign criminals to do the jobs we just won't do.

On a related note, back in 2009 due to some odd circumstances, for six months I wasn't an IT contractor but ended up as a "Stage 3 Advisor" in my local Jobcentre Plus (stage 3 is long term (> 6 months) unemployment).

One of the guys put on my caseload just before I left was a Pole who couldn't speak a word of English. He was totally unskilled, so looking at stuff like labouring and warehouse work - he wouldn't get a look in at that kind of work either, back in those days a warehouse picker job would attract 700 applicants.

This chap was on Jobseekers plus housing benefit and had kids back in Poland.

Anyway - it was a winter of lots and lots of snow - it was knee deep in the town centre. So we were told to cancel "customers" appointments. I rang Ladislas (or whatever he was called) and left a message on his mobile not to come in. He obviously understood this because he didn't come in.

However, what I didn't know was that every time he signed on an interpreter came - all the way from Liverpool. That's SIXTY miles away. It had taken her all morning. I signed her chit for her, and back she went. Cost for an interpreter for him to sign on: over two hundred quid!

The chap really should have just gone back to Poland.

Same thing with all these bleeding heart types who would let all these "flip-flops" come in, the ones breaking into lorries in Calais. Why? They are of no economic benefit; I don't care if they WANT to work; how many hand car washers do we need? Trouble is that the UK is at the end of the filter chain.

All 4 had long criminal records back in Poland. Are we not meant to be stopping violent criminals from the EU entering the UK? Of course most violent criminals in this country are 'locals' however why add to the problem by letting in more from overseas?

Yes indeed, with the local crims we'd save a fortune on interpreters.
