So a politician made an undeliverable pledge in the run up to a general election

blimey

let's hope that never happens again
Scrapping the Human rights act is already Tory policy. In that context how is this undeliverable?
They can have all the ambition and manifesto promises in the World, but it means jot all for they are unelectable.

By far one of the most interesting and well put together posts I have read on this forum for quite some time, thank you.

It is interesting as well that with certainly what seems like more exposure than I have had that some of the same things ring true, the professionals tend to remain so and the lower paid working / not working folks tend to be more disruptive, which I think we would all probably support in anecdotal terms at least.

The 65% of workers from the ex communist countries as well in low skilled work is another good indicator. I wonder what percentage of those jobs however are only available to those workers because our home grown Wayne and Waynettas would rather sit on their arses and collect state handouts than wash cars for £7 an hour?
beer

I can (very, very, very roughly) answer your question too! 465,850 Wayne and Waynetta which is 1.5%!

Back of fag packet workings:
- 50% of those unemployed don't turn up to placements or training.
- Using the figure above, half of the total 931k claiming jobseekers comes to : 465,850 people
- Which is 1.5% of the overall workforce.

links:
- 931,700 claiming job seekers
- 50% of those seem to not want to work at all
- 31,878,000 Economically Active 16-64

Net migration to the UK has risen to 298,000, according to the final set of quarterly figures before the general election.

The figure, for the year ending September 2014, is now well above the level of migration when David Cameron came to power in 2010.

The Conservatives had hoped to get it to below 100,000 by this May.

Net migration peaked at 320,000 in the year to June 2005. At the time of the 2010 election it was 252,000.

The numbers say what they say but this is primarily due to being in the EU and the consequent removal of parliamentary sovereignty.

I agree however it was still a stupid and dishonest pledge which was repeated several several times post election so they can't even blame the coalition for that one.

Absolutely, it's symptomatic of CMD that he should make a pledge he had no chance of keeping.

That sort of nonsense should safely be left to Labour and Red Ed.

I'd suggest that the issue lies less with DC and more with the hard of understanding member for Sheffield.

His lot being the party that have stymied the Conservatives to a huge extent from being true to themselves and what the country needs.

On a side note isn't that Crankypants party of choice? May be wrong, but pretty sure that's the case.
