Pistonheads forum makes the news - well The Telegraph anyway

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/11250691...

Then in the comments on the article you get this one from "Ron"

It's a hotbed for bigots to spout their bile. Here is a very typical post on PH. http://tinyurl.com/pwg2mcp

"Reverse our immigration policy retrospectively since 1946 through a process of repatriation"

So XJ Flyer has obviously upset someone who is having their sway in the comments section in the telegraph
Will the rotter step forth ?

For every one who posts 'bile' and inflammatory remarks there is another to challenge them.
PH isn't so bad, quite well rounded on the whole.

The "Camera can capture some fantastic moments" thread is a sickening parody of all that is good in modern British society. Avoid at all costs.
A bit harsh. frown

As mentioned in 'tother thread, the commenter is just looking to be inflammatory. Anything other than the wildest of viewpoints can't stay on the first page of youtube / news sites / that sort of thing, because of the vote system. Sadly, this is a reflection of the Jeremy Vine effect, where apparently nutters are worth airtime, and balanced people are boring.

If you were being objective, that page is full of XJF taking a thorough forum lynching - showing PH to be self moderating. It also predates the Telegraph story, so can't be seen as "people covering PH's back". Sadly, there is no way that viewpoint would last more than 6 minutes on a news comment feed...

The worst bit is the "pedal power" forum, which is a thinly disguised meeting place for satanists, neo-nazis and racists. And bigots. Many of them also torture animals to the point of death, emitting a series of weirdly high-pitched grunts as they do it.

Some of them also indulge in perverted acts with garden furniture (and, on one unforgettable occasion, with a vintage mangle).

Many fly England flags from their terraced houses and drive transit vans.

Vote Labour.

You were my second choice for outing XJ Flyer !!!
This ones a howler from the telegraph comments
"In the same theme and just as odious is that Jack Whatshername who writes cookbooks about making baked beans go further and downtrodden single mothers. Another bigoted left wing feminazi whose altruistic credentials are slipping in favour of chumming up with Red-Ed's top table."

As a frequent visitor to PP, I'm shocked that this description is so dead on balls accurate...

Are there really 5 million members . . .

Where we shine over Mumsnet is in pedantry. The grammar over on their forum is despicable.

Just under 430k forum members - even taking into account dead accounts, repetition, people who haven't posted/just posted once and left etc.

Even taking a zero off the end it's an optimistic figure.

Some quite bemusing and funny comments on the Telegraph page.

PH is quite different since I joined and there are more posters who just seem to spout utter nonsense, but there has been a huge growth in the past 10 years. Overall, we have a smaller proportion of idiots compared to other forums and, for the most part, contributers here seem well educated and have something to offer.

Increasingly PH has become a one-stop-shop for bigotry, racism, sexism and a ranting soap-box for the truly stupid.

In addition, it's a disturbing window into the world of astonishingly vulgar watches.
Well, that's just not true. Some of the watches look alright.

and where is all the sex?

seriously, there is strong balance on NPE, nutters like us on all sides, usually good humoured. Many erudite and experienced posters putting us right.
And of course, motoring threads galore.
