2 years jail time seems a bit lenient for this terrorist in the making.

The 2 brothers who attended a Syria terror camp got 4.

Was he actually a terrorist with a plan, or just an immature wee boy with internet access and a bit too much free time?

Although you'd think someone in the army who wanted to blow st up would just get himself into a role where that's what you do!

Laughable. Would you be saying this if his name was Mohammed Khan?

People have been labelled terrorists and gone to jail just because the Al Qaeda magazine (Inspire) was found on their hard drives and you reckon a chap with guns and bombs already built just has too much time on his hands.

Apologies for not being down wiv da yoof of today, but why go to all the effort of putting a bomb together and then not using it?

You think he was intending to enter it into a local art exhibition?

Spot on. He was an EDL member planning on bombing immigrants by the look of things. I predict he'll be a hero on these pages.

A wee boy FFS!

I get where the other poster was coming from, I recall a lad at another school when I was a teenager blew his fingers off making a homemade bomb out of the anarchists cookbook. This guy seems like he had a plan however.

I think some of you need lessons in reading comprehension.

bbc news story said:
Prosecutor Roger Smart said it was accepted that rifleman McGee was not a terrorist or intended to help a terrorist group. McGee also had a "keen interest in the English Defence League" and had attended one of their marches but was not a member of the group, said the lawyer.

Antony Chinn QC, defending, said the fact McGee's journal had stickers of cartoon character Scooby Doo and birds on its cover was an indication of his immaturity.
If you're going to make stuff up can you at least use a bit of imagination and not directly contradict the content of the story you're basing your argument on?

What was actually going on in his head? I have no idea. Did he have terrorist intent? Maybe he did. Regardless, he definitely sounds like an immature wee boy to me.

If you are going to selectively quote to make him look like salt of the earth how do you rationalise this?

report said:
McGee had links to far right groups in Europe on his computer and watched a video of two men being executed under a swastika flag.

When he was interviewed by police, McGee said he was interested in right wing politics because he did not like mass immigration.

He documented his thoughts in a journal entitled Ryan's Story Book. It featured drawings of guns and knives, images of paramilitary soldiers and references to groups including the National Front, Klu Klux Klan and British National Party.
Just a wee boy.

I selected the bits I quoted because they directly contradicted what had been posted by you and others. No more, no less.

You can attempt to ascribe some other motive to my post but you'll be wrong about that too.

A guy at my school did the same thing. OMG, maybe I went to terrorism school! I think I need to get myself on a watch list!

(I have sometimes wondered how easy it would be to get a copy of the Anarchist's Cookbook...)

As the poster above said, if his name was Mohammed Khan the responses would be very different. This thread would have been several pages long.

But a white EDL immigrant hating soldier making bombs isn't worth discussing.

He's just a wee lad.

Still doesn't explain why you think he would be a hero to anyone here. Have another go.

You google it. Dozens of American websites host it legally, one copy appears to be on the servers Berkeley University of California. Is owning a copy illegal?

EDL(t) your username is giving me irony overload!

ETA: doesn't look to be illegal - you can buy it on Amazon! http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Anarchist-Cookbook-Wil...

Ex army here, and no he won't be getting any hero status from me.

2 years seems very lenient imo.

My username predates the EDL by over two years and I'm not a time travelling racist, because travelling back in time is impossible.
