Yep, it's in the press to include the Daily Mail........

Strange noises heard over the UK

No st Sherlock the only 'recording' was from a woman in Croydon where according to the police there was a fireworks display, and amazingly no one else in the entire UK managed to get even so much as a mutter on a phone or whatever.

Did you hear them last night?

To be fair to her I heard one loud boom around the same time in Sutton coldfield. Was only the one off in the distance somewhere.

Well I heard them last night in Hampshire - somewhere between 9 - 10, thought it was fireworks even through it didn't sound quite like fireworks - did wonder what it was

Meteor shower? I've no idea what one sounds like but a lot of small stones exploding in mid air could sound like fireworks I suppose.

The A1 was shut yesterday due to reports of an explosion near a military barracks - no evidence of an explosion found though iirc - maybe the same thing?
