IIRC one of the first public sector areas to be put up for privatisation was the Public Parks and maintenance. Not sure how much truth may lay in the story that Dennis Thatcher had major shareholdings in a grounds maintenance company involved in the early bidding processes.
Utterly disgusting post. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I don't see any accusation in crankedup's post, only yourself coming over all precious at the thought that the spouse of MT may have taken a chance on a business opportunity, as businessmen sometimes do.
Have a word with yourself.
My reputation is clearly considered before thought of response.

Searched around for some info' about privatisation of public parks services and found none at all. What I did find was information regarding the outsourcing of public services within local government. This is compulsory competitive tendering inviting third parties to compete for provision of services. This is what I was referring to earlier but it is clearly not privatisation as such.

I'd say Blair is the more hated of the two; it's just that people who hate Blair hate him for the things he actually did (illegal war, being complicit with Brown in wrecking the economy, installation of placemen in the great institutions of state etc), whereas people who most loudly hate Thatcher tend to hate her because they're told to, judging by the average age of a Thatcher Death Party attendee.
There is quite a large swathe of the population who loved Thatcher and wish we had more politicians like her today, whereas you'd have to search very hard to find anyone of any political stripe who still holds Blair with any affection.

In this case, I guess we had best agree to differ.

Cranky, all that was missing from the above post was the "innocent face" , Sally Bercow style... You were going for the smear and you know it. If I'm wrong then I will apologise unreservedly, but equally, you need to clarify what you're posting - especially given your well documented political leaningsHardtopManual said:

Thatcher was a great politician and one of the finest PMs this country has seen. It is a testiment to her leadership that we still talk about her 24 years after she left office. I doubt the current crop of loathsome political leaders will be remembered a year after the GE.There is quite a large swathe of the population who loved Thatcher and wish we had more politicians like her today, whereas you'd have to search very hard to find anyone of any political stripe who still holds Blair with any affection.

My question had this in mind, was there wrongdoing or not. My question has been answered.

Your statement had none.
On the most charitable interpretation, you were clearly insinuating wrong-doing and your faux self-righteous attempts to deny it are demeaning to you and the intelligence of the PH readership.
Edited for grammar.

I dont hate B,liar for what he got wrong, I hate him because from the day he walked into number 10 he wanted the next move up, be it first President of the EU, leader of the free world or first leader of planet earth, but he was prepared to sacrifice the UK to get what he wantedThatcher would never have sold us down the river No No No
I believe that Blair is (very appropriately) more of an equal opportunity hate figure. People from right across the spectrum of political beliefs, contribution to our society and mental stability are able to hate him. Thatcher on the other hand, hated by small subset who are restricted to one extreme of one or more of the above.

This is what I meant by my 'boiling frog' comment.Thatcher was scalding hot water and those affected kicked back hard not to be boiled.
Blair was the tepid water that was slowly heated and he nearly killed us all while the country sat there thinking everything was warm and rosy.
She's hated venomously by a relative few (and the sheep that believe what they are told). He's manifestly despised by many.
