You can only imagine how long this thread would be if it were Labour that was the paedo party.
Do Labour councillors count? They start halfway down this list...
Huge difference between councillors and MPs/Cabinet Ministers/Former PMs.
Is there any difference between a child sexually abused by a councillor or a child sexually abused by an MP?
There is a huge difference in the influence of a councillor and an MP/Minister, no one is saying the victim is less damaged with one or the other.

So who has more influence over a vulnerable child, a councillor or an MP?

More to the point, who has the power to keep any abuse quiet?

Perhaps we will find out after the investigation, or not if they have sufficient power.

From MSN News:

"Police have made a dramatic appeal for witnesses and victims of abuse to come forward after their witness, known only as Nick, claimed that during his years of abuse at the hands of Conservative politicians, he saw a Conservative MP strangle a boy to death during a sex attack."

That's "politicians"

Growing up there was always the adage that a prediliction for sexual impropriety is associated with the Tory party whilst its generally Financial shenanigans that beset Labour.

Whether the numbers back this up I don't know but it does sound semi-plausible given their respective roots.

Anyway, hide your cash when Labour are canvassing and your kids when the Tories are knocking. biggrin

I note the smiley, but......

Do you not think that freemasonry might be in the background here?

Top-level politicians past and present...high-ranking police officers...high level judiciary...et al

The stench is overpowering.
Insular empires (little and not so little), need to be dismantled under the glare of the media spotlight.
Yes indeed.

After the latest news that Theresa May or May Not has decided that there may be a more 'rigorous' investigation into the subject, I wonder if this is just a case of kicking the can down the road until certain parties who are said to be involved have passed into the great blue yonder.

I'm also a little surprised that, in view of my previous comments, the goats head wearers haven't come out and poo-pooed the possible involvement of their secret and far-reaching cult.

Perhaps most of the practicing freemasons on this site are just fed up of your tired and ill-informed little vomits of wisdom.

Of course there will be Freemasons who were and are involved in such disgusting activities, just like there will be teachers, lawyers, doctors, politicians, bin men, nurses, shopkeepers and people from every side of society.

The content of your posts highlights the level of your understanding in the first instance.

The difference being that 'teachers, lawyers, doctors, politicians, bin men, nurses, shopkeepers and people from every side of society' are not members of a secret society.

With respect, if you knew anything about Freemasonry you would be well aware that it is not a secret society. Therefore it is not a difference, it is a similarity. The fact that you are seemingly excluded says sufficient.

Thanks for the thinly-veiled condescension smile Not that it matters, but my uncle was a member of trouser-leg raising, goat-worshipping brethren, so if I wanted 'in' it wouldn't be difficult.

It is a secret society and will remain thus until it publishes a membership directory (complete with 'rank').

You're most welcome. I await the membership list from the AA et al.

It is a society with secrets, not a secret society.

FWIW I have also met members who are teachers, doctors, lawyers, accountants, bin men, fairly much people from all walks of life.

As for the Goat Worship you either know a lot more than I do or otherwise your posts are reflecting you prejudices more than your knowledge.

Sorry, think that they are fresh out of goats as well. It does appear that there are plenty of asses about though.

My point, in case you've missed it, is that I could easily find a list of teachers (to use one of your examples) in my local area, should I have the desire, but I could not acquire a list of Masons – ergo it is a secret society.

To take this back to the thread topic: if all the abusers were teachers, or MPS, or Muslims, it's easy to demonstrate the correlation. Not so easy to show that they were all Masons however (or, for that matter, members of any other society which keeps its records secret).

I have no particular prejudice against Masonry. As stated, I have family members involved at local lodge level. And at that level Masonry is either a group of decent men concerned with charitable deeds, or a group of self-serving old farts who revel in their 'elevated status' (depending on your POV, and both views have been put forward to me by people who I know to be Masons).

Can anyone honestly expect the police to properly investigate this kind of crime when they allow one of theirs caught taking up-skirt pictures of little girlsto keep his job?

I did not accept your premise. Your deliberate (supposed to be humorous?) misunderstanding merely confirms the sum of your prejudices which, if honestly professed at a congregation, would undoubtedly result in a withdrawal of invitation. So even if you did seek a welcome, as you indicated filial ties, maybe that explains your antipathy. Hardly the point of the thread though.

Yet the fact remains that it is a secret society. One cannot simply turn up at a lodge night, and nor are membership lists available. So, secret. Unless you seek to redefine the meaning of the word.

And no, I never had any interest in joining. My grandfather was in, but my father (unlike his brother) thought it all rather silly, and I take after him smile

Exactly.

I had family members who were also involved but I never had any interest, although I was told many times that if I expressed a wish to join then it would be looked on favourably.

I always thought it a mixture of the ridiculous by having grown men, supposedly respectable members of the community (although I take that with a large pinch of salt)standing around dressed in strange garb muttering weird oaths to one another, and also slightly sinister whereby all kinds of dodgy dealing could be carried out under the oath of secrecy. Don't anyone tell me that this has never happened either.
