Watching the news coverage...
CMD saying it's either him or ED will be walking though the door of no.10.
It would be great if it were neither!
(I know, its a faint dream!)
A BBC reporter (Norman Smith) yesterday stated that "the only person (other than David Cameron) who can become prime minister is Ed Miliband" I know this will almost certainly turn out to be true, but there's nothing in the rules to say this and I don't think the BBC should be saying it.CMD saying it's either him or ED will be walking though the door of no.10.

that's what I was getting at (although your put it better!)Guam said:
I re read Ashcrofts methodology not sure about the probity of allocating unsure of declined to answer to how they voted last time?
Would this not skew Ukip significantly to the downside on the 2010 results?
Also would it not tend to guarantee a result that favoured an outcome similar to last time out?

I don't agree with Ashcroft's methodology in that respect. Would this not skew Ukip significantly to the downside on the 2010 results?

But then looking back at Newark I called one of his fudge factors utter wishful thinking and the result turned out to be closer to his figures than mine. So what do I know? Maybe he was right and really had finger on the pulse, maybe it was a lucky guess. We all take credit for the wins on a good prediction.
I have a gut feeling that there are a lot of undeclared votes for UKIP, also that the number of undecideds is significantly understated in many polls.
Just increases the uncertainty factor.

that's what I was getting at (although your put it better!)Imagine a situation where either of the two major candidates need the support of a smaller party or parties to take power and one of those smaller parties says they will do a deal ONLY if Dave/ED (delete according to taste) steps aside.
Dave/Ed then has to decide if party comes before self and hand over to a deputy to become PM.
Remember we mere mortals don't elect a PM, our elected represetatives do that on our behalf.

Assuming Boris gets his seat, I would suggest he's in pole position, and I suspect farage would rather deal with him than CMD.Dave/Ed then has to decide if party comes before self and hand over to a deputy to become PM.

Labour's no.2 is less obvious, they are all spinless gobstes.

that's what I was getting at (although your put it better!)All he was saying is that no matter who you vote for, your vote one way or another will help or hinder one of those two get into No 10, and may affect the terms on which they can operate once there.
