This is the second accident involving a bin lorry in Scotland in the last month - different circumstances but it shows the damage these vehicles can do due to their weight - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-ea...

Strange link being reported between this terrible accident and the World War Z movie scene filmed in the same streets 3 years ago, involving a bin lorry that crashes out of control. Very weird coincidence.

BBC report has been updated to say that according to eyewitnesses two colleagues jumped out of the cab as it was moving along.

I hope that isn't true.

Sky confirmed 3 dead from the same family - grandparents and granddaughter.

Devastating.

Thoughts are with the families of those killed. And we hope the injured pull through and recover from this ordeal frown

City centre Glasgow is eerie and quiet - the Christmas lights in George Square have been switched off too.

Bumped into a young man on the way home from work that witnessed the accident and the aftermath, and he described some pretty horrific scenes. He was really shook up.

It really made me think given that I frequently cross the very junction where the lorry smashed through - and that included yesterday.

Good to see people helping out wherever they can. People really do make Glasgow.

I walked past George Square today and the silence was eerie at a time of year when it would normally be a hive of excitement and activity.

Comic genius indeed.

Now has anyone heard of any toxicology results yet?

(I meant the driver not our resident troll)

Didn't see any news regarding a bin wagen in Holland.

Tragic what happened in Scotland no words to describe the horror. So many pedestrian people and motorised traffic don't mix if things go wrong.

Christ, if it wasn't already horrific enough, it is now being reported that the mother of the late-teens girl who died witnessed the whole event, she is also the daughter of the two late 60-s couple who were killed.

Seeing your daughter and both of your parents passing away in front of you frown That lady will need a huge amount of support over the coming days and weeks.

Apparently she left them alone for a few minutes whilst visiting the cashpoint.

Sky reporting the driver has left hospital after treatment. I'm no medical expert but that says to me it wasn't a heart attack. A fit, maybe...?

That's just horrific. Not sure any amount of support can help.

Sky has just retracted the above and state that the driver of the bin lorry remains in hospital and is in a stable condition
