Its not been going that fast when it hit the building - cab looks almost 100% ok. I expect it rolled to a stop at that point. The video that's sky are showing shows this incident lasted a good 200-300 yards.

It looks quite a small bin wagon - max would be 26 tonnes by the looks of it.

Sky also reporting driver is alive.

Driver alive and being treated in hospital according to police.
How bad will he be feeling, poor bugger.
Poor chap - how will be able to live with this a huge weight round his neck.

What a tragic incident all those lives lost so close to Christmas.

Sky News just played an immediate-aftermath video. The sound of panic and cries echoing around streets I walk every day is so chilling.

yes And hopefully he has enough support around him to prevent him from torturing himself for the rest of his life over this bloody awful accident. It sounds like it could have been MUCH worse, and was in any case absolutely out of his control.

Glasgow has had so much st luck of late. Hearing talk of potentially kids being amongst the casualties.

Hoping I don't know anyone in the thick of it this time.........

Im guessing there were a couple of other guys in the cab.
Must of been truly horrifying not being able to avert the crash.

It looks like it's run over the top of an Octavia taxi, just before it's came to rest.Hopefully the driver got out of that ok, it's quite badly crushed.

Street parallel to the green arrow to the left is Buchanan Street which is the main shopping street in glasgow

The scottish version of Oxford street

It's shocking to think that's one of the streets I normally walk past whenever I visit Glasgow.

Thoughts are with the families of those affected.
