It appears they have a big snackbar problem - inevitable and will only get worse.

I would hedge a bet it will be coming to a UK town very soon.

France has far more of a problem with rabid muslimists then we currently have in the UK.

The number of immigrants and descendants of immigrants emanating from the former French colonies in N. Africa is enormous and that's not counting those in large numbers who have been granted asylum status from places like Chechnya and Dagestan.

there are areas in Paris and Marseilles for example, where the gendarmes will not enter unless they are in large numbers and seriously tooled up.

But hey, what do I know, I only lived there for a few years and after all we're talking about the religion of peace and tolerance.

Are they living in the shanty towns on the outskirts of paris? Can't believe Paris officials are allowing this...

If you look at it logically, this is just some nutter in a van. There will always be nutters, and being nutters are all but impossible to predict.

But not so long ago we had people, UK nationals for generations, who were willing to plant bombs to blow up pregnant women. Whilst these must have been mad in most senses of the word apart from the legal one, they were a large group, educated and without excuses.

No, not shanty towns, some of the arrondissements in Paris and some of the larger cities such as Lyons and Marseilles are no-go areas for anyone not of a muslamist persuasion except for mob-handed gendarmes and the CRS.

So when we complain that the nice newly built flat we have just bought, also have some council allocations in the building, we can sleep safely knowing that we have avoided a ghetto on the outskirts of the m25.

I'm not sure which method I'd prefer.

Either way another shocking incident, hopefully this one is an isolated mental case rather than the full blown Alan Akbar brigade.

The freeloading Somali, Eritrean and Afghan refugees will be arriving next door very soon but never mind, eh? diversity and all that.

Yes Derek but the people you're talking about were either gangsters or politically motivated pragmatists, not delusional fairy-tale believers.

A big difference in ideology.

Perspective:

It is estimated that there are 2.3 billion muslims in the world. Muslim terrorist attacks in 2014 (a bad year) have
killed 871 people (as of a few days ago)

In the US for 2013 (an average year), approximately 12,000 were killed by gun crime, in a population of 316 million.

In neither category were any of these deaths in the UK

What do we learn from this? If you don't want to be killed in an act of violence, don't worry about immigration, just don't book a family holiday in Disneyland, or a shopping trip to New York

I'm sure "we" have killed more of "them" than they have of us over the years.

I was going to mention Marseilles but you did in your second post. Very much another place which large parts of it the police just won't go near. The above is relevant though as I believe Marseilles is very much a battleground between the "old school" gangster who have run the place for years and religious loonies who are trying to carve their way into the local criminal scene, ie. get a "secure" import/export foothold in Europe. Damn nr unpolicable aswell.

Fortunately my part of France still cares more about making sure you aren't German!

I'm sure 'we' could sally off to Iraq, Afghanistan or NE Nigeria to try and redress the balance.

I think you misread him. If anything is needed to redress the balance then it is "us" dying. You still offering to help?

2.3 billion eh? Only last week it was a billion.

As for 871 people killed? More than that number of Yazidi died this year at the hands of jihadists. I'm guessing your definition of terrorism is somewhat narrow.
