If the results confirm that the figures have been fiddled, pick the response from the following1) Ignore it and carry on with the climate lie
2) destroy the reputation of the scientists involved
3) send death threats for not agreeing with MMGW theory
4) release report with huge media funding claiming hottest year yet/no ice left/penguins are dying/20years to save the planet
The trouble is that like a religion, it is almost impossible to remove the indoctrination that has occurred in the education system.
Go on, are they "credible" or not?
I hope it will be a thorough investigation of the data and the methods, aside from directly fiddled data there are issues like (a) I don't believe they are subtracting anywhere near enough from readings to allow for urban heating (b) they adjust the 'wrong way' for the switch from LiG to electronic instrumentation as far as I can see (c) the distribution of stations has been biased by dropping a larger proportion of colder sites? etc. etc.

Baggsy me some grade 1 farmland with a water supply somewhere nice. You can have Antartica or Siberia.
Siberia?Quite productive I am told.

A lot of food plant production these days can be based on hydroponics. Plenty of water in Antarctica - just needs liberating in relatively small quantities. I'm sure they will find a way to do it.

My feelings is the whole thing fits into the to big to fail category, how do they get out of this mess, too much money has been spent just to say oops we got it wrong, how do the political people save face, cans will be kicked down the road, the outcome I predict will be that they say mistakes were made but the science is sound, then it will be back to business as usual. I agree. This will play out as a long game. Too many corporations have invested too much money during the past quarter of a century. I'll be long gone before this embarrassing episode in Western self-flagellation completely runs out of steam.
Historians looking at this era will marvel at our civilisation's hubris and superstition as incredulously as we do to those who believed that the sun spun on our axis.

I agree, but who is going to hold them to account when they are doing exactly what a lot of governments want, even governments like China can see the advantage in allowing the west to make itself less competitive.Crush said:

On the indoctrination point, just been talking to my son who is doing his GCSEs this year. He's furious about being criticised in physics for not extolling the joys of wind power and lying about its effectiveness. He quite rightly pointed out it's supposed to be science, not politics. 1) Ignore it and carry on with the climate lie

I hope you challenge that all the way.Jasandjules said:

I hope you challenge that all the way.In the meantime he's learning a valuable lesson - it's not what's right that counts, but what the person asking the question wants to hear (at that particular time).
Shameful though it is, he can then move on and work to overcome this sort of malpractice later on (if he so wishes).
(I have one son recently graduated - he also went through a system skewed towards pro-green malarkey but has come out the other side with his cynicism intact.)

It's generally not quite so bad in secondary schools outside one or two themesin one or two subjects where the myth is laid on with a trowel, in primary schools the climate lie is often far more pervasive. Primary school teachers, within the margin of any generalisation, are among the truest of true believers.I've had some business recently with a charitable education trust which likes to hold meetings in London schools, hiring rooms that way is relatively inexpensive for the capital, and it gives the schools a bit of extra money so all told it's a good idea.
There have been few outward signs of the green religion in any secondary school, but in primary schools it's a totally different picture. The last one was so bad I took some photos of the various faith statements in the entrance area. One was a 'RICS Award London' certificate, the award being for Sustainability. This reminded me of the Nottingham University eco building that sustained for so long it burned down before it was completed. Recycling in action. Another related to a favourable BREEAM score, bending a knee to pointless greenism - saving money on energy costs is a good thing, but those costs need not be anywhere near as high in the first place. Then there was something about Eco Schools, and finally a co-commitment to sharing the Local Authority's aim to tackle climate change including via the school transport plan, which doubtless promotes pester power.
There really ought to have been a statue of Pavlov's dog nearby.
Having checked on my phone, I forgot the 'Co-operative Green Energy for Schools Award' with the familiar crossing the road girl and her younger brother hand-in-hand inside a symbolic green triangle, awarded for "helping to combat climate change".
If anyone in the school thinks they're doing anything to combat global climate change (which is natural) they need an education.
