As this example of fallibility shows, the Pope is only ever infallible when acting infallibly - strange but true wobble

Galileo would be interested for sure.

Just read that. I find the part where they told him that it is inappropriate to question their research it's quality and their motives completely abhorrent. That is not how scientific research works. That absolutely stinks, as does the threat that he will not get far in his research career if he continued to question them. Shocking.

Exactly. It's totalitarianism not science.

eek nobody expected that...

It looks as though the Vatican has followed the BBC model with carefully selected true believers present for a special two-way blessing briefing event.

Well it might be climate change that contributed to the AirAsia crash if you believe the AirAsia Chief Executive Mr Fernandes:
''In a fascinating, yet worrying, comment earlier in the week, Mr Fernandes suggested that climate change was making weather worse and flying riskier, particularly in the tropics.''

Any climate 'saviours' in the honours list yet? Only a matter of time.

I see BBC News is still shovelling the same old chit down our throats. I flick it on occasionally and wham, some weather story from somewhere around the globe, or if nowhere is wet, dry, windy or warm enough, they simply repeat last years floods dressed up in some sort of irrelevant story line, just to get the pictures into viewers heads. Drip drip, I guess some impressionable people will be soaking it up.

Given that certain announcements are often made ahead of time to create headlines, that may not have been a typo smile

hehe Let's hope that by 2024 Pachauri, Mann, Jones, Figueres and their co-conspirators have been rounded up, locked away and the key is nowhere to be found.

I see that the EU (allegedly) is introducing regulation to enforce another raft of electrical devices to be designed to shut down if they appear to be not in current use.

Coffee machines have been mentioned.

And computery things like routers.

One does wonder where these ideas really emanate although the intent behind them, enforced demand management of energy consumption, seems quite self evident. And of the course the pitch about "saving people money" is a classic that is perhaps getting a bit long of tooth, though politicians are probably not aware that it is.

It occurs to me that we might connect with the idea and see how else the concept of shutting things down and saving money when they are not doing anything useful for us might be more widely applied.

There are obvious targets.

TV companies for a start.

The Met office.

Most of Whitehall.

Politicians at all levels but lets start with Westminster and the European shower. None of the them do much of benefit to the citizens they are supposed to represent so we could easily turn them of 6 days a week, possibly more, and save all of those costs.

Clearly anything to do with Climate research can be permanently switched off since we have been told for years that the science is settled and everyone agrees.

Popular music and other forms of entertainment are clearly huge energy users yet offer no benefit to anyone as religious leaders in the middle east identified centuries ago. So all of that stuff can be eradicated. The savings in energy consumption and battery production will more than likely make the need for geo-engineering research completely redundant.

There certainly seems to be a lot of potential for the principles behind the Energy Management proposals to be extended readily into other areas of our lives. I think we should probably start to push to ensure it happens in ways that benefit the people and not the bureaucrats, politicians or their controllers.
