Ten Minute Rule Bill outlawing public subsidies for wind farms has just been voted through the House of Commons and PHer tallbloke is on the case.

The two UKIP votes played a key part which will doubtless please kippers.

Climate change brings world closer to 'doomsday', say scientists

Climate change and the danger of nuclear war pose an ever-growing threat to civilization and are bringing the world closer to doomsday, a group of prominent scientists and Nobel laureates said Thursday.

"It is now three minutes to midnight," said Kennette Benedict, executive director of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, as the group moved its symbolic "Doomsday Clock" two minutes forward.

The Doomsday Clock was created in 1947. It has changed 18 times since then, ranging from two minutes to midnight in 1953 to 17 minutes before midnight in 1991.

The clock has been at five minutes to midnight since 2012 and the last time it was three minutes to midnight was in 1983, during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.

If anyone is wondering what happened in 1983, google 'The day the world almost died' which i assume is what the above article is referring?

Defeat For Green Lobby As EU Panel Rejects Cap-And-Trade Reforms

The European Parliament’s industry committee failed to agree on a recommendation for a draft measure to curb a glut of carbon permits. The panel, which has an advisory role in the legislative process, rejected a report on a mechanism to withhold surplus allowances. In today’s final ballot, the industry committee voted 31 to 28, with seven abstentions, against an entire report even after approving individual amendments.
Ewa Krukowska and Ian Wishart, Bloomberg, 22 January 2015

from the same source:

European Union carbon allowances posted their biggest drop since April after a panel in the bloc’s parliament failed to agree on how to modify a measure curbing a glut of carbon permits. Permits fell as much as 8.1% after the European Parliament’s industry committee, which has an advisory role in the legislative process, rejected a recommendation on a mechanism to withhold surplus allowances.

Two links to coverage at the CFACT political blog Climate Depot.

Conning the Public: Scientists Accuse NASA-NOAA of ‘Misleading’ ‘Deception’ & ‘Lying’ about Hottest Year claim & concede 2014 probably was not the hottest year.

Scientists balk at ‘hottest year’ claims: Ignores satellites showing 18 Year ‘Pause’, ‘we are arguing over the significance of hundredths of a degree’ meanwhile 'The Pause’ continues.

Of course it's all just a gravy-train political movement.

I mean, sure if we change our ways there is a slim chance we might end up with energy independence, preserved rainforests, sustainability, green jobs, livable cities, renewables, clean water, clean air and healthy children.

But what if it's a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing?

Worth noting I've worked in the petrochemical industry for 20yrs before the usual lefty guardian lentil insults fly.
You're just trotting out another lie from the standard list of warmist dogma - discredited and destroyed to death a thousand times over.

What they are doing is not saving CO2 emissions meaningfully, if at all, but at enormous environmental cost, ruinous financial cost, and at enormous personal cost to the standard of living and health of the poorest.

And yet no one can have an easily successful career in politics or science unless they support this insane orthodoxy.

So not only are they taking action for a non or insignificant problem or one where the benefits may well outweigh the negatives, they are not saving the planet, but they are hurting - killing even - people, right now.

The BBC continue to trot out bks(another in a series of eleventy twelve squillion); not only was the quality of this week's The Now Show poor, they had some unfunny generic Spartist tt going on about Davos, rich people, private jets, the Swiss, Climate Change and the obligatory Thatcher gag to complete the set. Bring back Marcus Brigstocke, at least he used to be funny.

Don't forget, the Climate Change Act was his baby, in all its idiocy.

Booker on Global temperature analysis. Take your pick of links from the two below - EUReferendum or directly from The Sunday Telegraph.

If we consider the Sunday Telegraph to be "main stream" (is it?) then this could be an interesting development that might lead to fascinating set of exchanges as we rush through 2015 heading for the Grand Meeting in Paris late in the year.
