The Royal Society's motto is "Nullius in verba" - and yet the tell us that 97% of scientists agree with them.

Utter hypocrites.

They're an embarrassment to their history, but it's hardly surprising when their president, Paul Nurse, is a former bolshy student / Socialist Worker seller.

when this scam finally falls apart in a decade or so due to the natural cooling cycles of the oceans the entire scientific community is going to be left seriously tarnished.

it might be an idea for any "proper" scientists to have the terminology of climate "scientist" changed to climatologist in the very near future. unless they all fancy serious funding shortfalls in the future.

as for the likes of lewandowski once the arse falls out of it, i may even visit mcdonalds to laugh at him.

It won't fall apart. They'll just continue saying that the world is warming with little question, even if people are freezing to death.

Sierra Club president Aaron Mair don't seem to know about it though, does he.

I've lost the count how many times he repeated "97% of scientists" regardless of the question...

btw out of curiosity I went to that club facebook page to see if they were brave enough to mention this and just look at their post

Sierra Club
October 9 at 3:48am ·
This week, Senator Ted Cruz held a hearing to attack the clean air and clean water safeguards that protect millions of families all across America. Sierra Club President Aaron Mair was there to talk about how communities of color, which are disproportionately affected by pollution and climate disruption, rely on these safeguards to protect them.
A friend to big polluters, Cruz unsurprisingly tried to cover all their talking points. His game? To attack the climate science that shows how carbon pollution from burning fossil fuels is causing climate disruption in the first place while assailing the Clean Power Plan, which would allow us to act on climate disruption and protect people’s health.
Well, Sierra Club President Aaron Mair has a few things to share with Senator Cruz. Check out his response.

http://www.sierraclub.org/compass/2015/10/climate-...

cringeworthy...
I just checked the link that the Sierra Club uses to back up its attack on Sen. Cruz. Remarkably, even that agrees with Sen. Cruz that there has been a pause.

Politifact article said:
Cruz does have a point: There hasn’t been any significant warming over the past 17 years. However, the scientific mainstream counters that it’s misleading for climate change skeptics to assume this flat trend line will continue indefinitely, or that it negates the long-term likelihood of global warming.
and... said:
And many scientists fully expect warming to pick up again, though there is less agreement on exactly when that will start. The United Kingdom’s weather office published three reports in which they asserted that temperatures will likely resume their rapid rise soon, though on an uncertain timetable.

Climate scientists are still trying to understand the pause, said Rob Jackson, a professor of earth system science at Stanford University.

Cruz does have a point: There’s been little global temperature change since 1998, and the temperatures measured are lower than what many computer models had predicted.
etc, etc.

However, the article does end with an assurance that the pause will end. But, it's not sure exactly when. So, that's OK then. yes

Read it for yourselves. It's remarkable.

As per the comments,

Je suis Philippe Verdier!
Completely ludicrous but in keeping with previous reactions to those speaking out. Believers are maintaining a high level of desperation including via thought-crime punishments and by ostracising anyone who breaks ranks and actually tells it (even remotely closely) as it is.

This quote from the article would normally be astonishing, but in 2015 we probably accept ministerial interference as par for the course -

"He said he decided to write the book in June 2014 when Laurent Fabius, the French foreign minister, summoned the country’s main weather presenters and urged them to mention “climate chaos” in their forecasts."

Be a handy link for the next time a Warmist makes the statement "Then why do all scientists agree that man made climate change is happening"

To ask questions is to lose your job. People laughed when I said that questioning Warmism would become as taboo as racism one day hehe

Nearly all the BBC weather people appear to have been body-snatched.

John Hammond is the worst lap-dog, they always wheel him out on Countryfile for a bit of climate chaos panic.

I know the CET record is not as good as they like to pretend, but nevertheless all the weather people must be familiar with it, and you'd be hard pressed to see any runaway dangerous global warming in the summer temperatures of that.

Tomasz Schafernaker is the only one who occasionally makes comments like 'normal for the time of year' instead of hyperbole, when introducing bad weather stories.

The true believers have taken over just about every key element/institution in society, and appear to be currently working on the judiciary.

Right now it is difficult to see how truth and commonsense and science can prevail.

I have a question - did any of you look into this beyond this random blog post or did you take it as read?

Perhaps it's my sceptical nature but it seems a little suspicious that this bloke happens to have been suspended at the exact same time as he's flogging a book about a subject that's very topical in France right now. The channel hasn't said why they've suspended him (note: suspended, not sacked), so we only have his word for it.

Union pressure on his employer caused the suspension according to a Telegraph article.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/f...

Presumably the government called their leaders and asked for some help in the matter "behind the scenes".

The key here is of course the "Paris Jamboree" that has had so many people and organisations taking advantage of the set date to use the focus to promote their own papers, books, TV programs, research project funding or simply ideology.

If the Telegraph report is mainly an accurate observation of what has occurred then it would seem that the point made about the "establishment" not tolerating wider views has been proven.

There seems to be no one playing in this game that does not have a personal vested interest of one sort or another. Indeed the whole point about the main alarmist approach is to make sure that all feel involved and are trained to know which whistles to respond to, preferably with instant results rather than any need to think things through for themselves.

The French TV station would have refuted the suspension and not refused to comment, if he wasn't suspended.
I'm sure it is, at least partly, a publicity stunt to sell the book (he could not be so naive).
But so what, the important thing is that someone who has credibility has put the counter opinion out there and people get to read it.
(The usual he's not a 'proper' climatologist hogwash will no doubt follow.... but then neither are 99.9% of the people in the pro camp.)

Standard tactic for those who pretend to know stuff, but really don't. Shut the debate down and hope the nasty man will go away. He's exactly right, its religion and "la la la I'm not listening".

Re. this 97% bks. Do we have a go-to or a fact sheet of sorts of information that shows this to be bks. I know its out there, just wondered if there is anywhere were its concisely summarized in one place.

Yup I know. Some jump into forums, and only read the last posted page unfortunatley.
Cheers for the link

Australia's government has given its approval for one of the world's biggest coal mines to be built by India's Adani Mining in Queensland. So that's put a spanner in the works, hasn't it ?

Now, let's have a look at the UK mining industry. Oh, hang on, it's gone !!

Definitely a good 'un. It's in reverse Top Gear so here's the opening bombshell:

Dr Moore said:
Thank you for the opportunity to set out my views on climate change. As I have stated publicly on many occasions, there is no definitive scientific proof, through real-world observation, that carbon dioxide is responsible for any of the slight warming of the global climate that has occurred during the past 300 years, since the peak of the Little Ice Age.

It must be said that the closing paras are also pure gold, I should have mentioned these snips.

Dr Moore said:
I issue a challenge to anyone to provide a compelling argument that counters my analysis of the historical record and the prediction of CO2 starvation based on the 150 million year trend. Ad hominem arguments about “deniers” need not apply. I submit that much of society has been collectively misled into believing that global CO2 and temperature are too high when the opposite is true for both.

...

Thank you for listening to me this evening.

I hope you have seen CO2 from a new perspective and will join with me to Celebrate CO2!
