A documentary made by skeptics which according to BishopHill is pretty good.
I have not had time to watch it myself yet but may be a good watch.
Fat Albert won't like that..smile

Didn't know he'd built a "multi million dollar house, right be the ocean" after wittering on about sea level rise for so long.

Was watching 'This is 40' on Netflix last night, and there's a scene in the first 30 mins where a parent deposits their 8yo daughter at school.

In the classroom across one wall was a banner (the largest I could see) presumably related to a topic they had done. The banner was "How will climate change harm us?". There was no other reference to AGW in the script and I assumed they just used a local school (California) for that one scene.

Nicely worded middle of the road sentiment. Wonder if it is a nationwide thing?

More extreme weather on the BBC.............. Noah's Ark, but how do you get a biblical flood before 50 years of industrial CO2 emissions?

The US has formally pledged suicide to the UN.

China, as we know, has "promised" to "peak" their carbon use by 2030, whatever that means in reality and in terms of controlling the planet's climate. It seems that even those charged with driving this political thrust don't have faith that it will work - though of course they would say that if they wish to purloin ever greater control over the world's population.

Then there is Africa. Many countries likely to double their population in the next 30 to 40 years. So a few more billions around the world in the time scale that little old UK will, apparently, become "carbon free".

Will no one think of the grandchildren?

Maybe the African countries will be able to send food parcels to the poor people left in Europe. Like they do now, but free rather than paid for and flown in. Not sure how they would get it here in an edible form as we now know it. Maybe turn it into powder of some sort and send it in sailing ships?

Hah! I read what that eminent scientist, global guru and great sage Viner said, snow is now very rare and hardly if ever falls on the UK, so you're fibbing due to global warming affecting your vision.

That will be China's non-binding pledge with no penalty clauses; how onerous.

Indeed.

One has to assume that they have worked out that Europe will be a non-market for them by then (except for the cheapest throwaway stuff) and the USA will be in serious decline and unable to afford even the Chinese built "autos" with the brand names once dear to the hearts of the American citizen.

That leaves Russia (probably not much use to them), the Middle East (likely declining by then) and Africa. Which they will probably own.

In addition one has to consider Australia (who knows what will drive things there in 20/30 years from now), the rest of Asia (competitors in carving up the carcass of the former First World) and South America. (Likely still a basket case but somewhere that might be conquered later.)

In all of this Greece ought to be a serious footnote about the start point for the changes. But it likely will not be - unless whoever turns Greece into a Chinese Port manages to buy their place in the annals of History.

In case anyone is nearby or fancies the trip, there's a talk open to interested parties, and the subtitle hints at plenty of politics:

'The science behind climate change and its effects on the poor in the UK and the developing world'

'It‘s not so much about the science that‘s been done, it‘s more a question of what‘s been done with the science'

An illustrated talk by Philip Foster followed by discussion.

Part of the National Trust reply to a letter on their stance regarding climate change said:
With regard to your second concern, the National Trust believes climate change is happening and is caused by manmade activities. We further have a duty to protect the special places that we look after and we would be shirking that duty if we ignored the threat that a changing climate poses to them.
Causality simply asserted with no evidence whatsoever.

May the faith be without them.

Climate change is happening - NSS! For billions of years only.

It seems somewhat ironic that they don't appear to recognise that their activities are, in the context of an ever changing future for an ever changing population, somewhat pointless in any "fight" against climate change. Indeed one could argue that they cause a disproportionately large problem in that regard seeking to protect structures that for the most part can never be "carbon efficient" and only exist on the basis that they will attract visitors - causing ever greater carbon consumption if they succeed in making the places popular.

If they really want to counter what they "believe" to be "manmade" climate effects the best thing they could do would be to abandon their buildings and close themselves down.

A study by scientists at Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Meteorology found that man-made aerosols had a much smaller cooling effect on the atmosphere during the 20th Century than was previously thought. Why is this big news? It means increases in carbon dioxide emissions likely cause less warming than most climate models suggest.
