Good grief another car crash interview from Bennett with Nick Ferrari just now, incredible stuff, she has absolutely no idea of the costings of any of her own policies.

Building 500,000 council homes for a total cost of £2.7 billion, apparently these will cost only £60,000 each to build (do as they say, the maths). All to be paid for by preventing private landlords claiming tax relief on their mortgage payments, but she has no idea how much this would raise.

Is there no beginning to her expertise?

I suspect part of her problem was that didn't want to reveal that her estimates of building costs didn't have to include the cost of the land because being socialists they intend to simply take it.

Almost as bad as the one with Andrew Neil a few weeks ago.

And yet, still some morons think they are worthy of a vote.

Smiler.

What do green party members and supporters do after such an interview? Are they sharing the link on twitter and patting Natalie on the back for doing an excellent job? Genuinely crious, I'd love to hear the view of some green voters on this. She should know the numbers, otherwise anyone could claim whatever they want, that's not politics, that's making stuff up.

Was I the only one who was taken right back to the lower 6th Govt and Politics when listening to her on R4 this morning?
I was half expecting her to ask if someone could get her a fake ID or if anyone was going to join her in the smoking area as she had nicked some fags from her mum actually, even though she does not really smoke, only spliffs actually, in a tie die t-shirt with army surplus bag with CND badge.

What's the betting there will still be some on here who'll vote Green despite that clueless interview. Probably turning up on a few other threads here talking about others and their costed manifesto. Out yourself , Green lovers.

Army gone - Captain Mainwaring returns!
Citizens income in manifesto - but no explanation on how it will be costed

And people are STILL serious about voting for the Greens???!?!?!?!?!

unless my maths is really bad...

500,000 houses @ £60,000 a pop = £30Bn not £2.7Bn

that would be a pretty fantastic slip of the decimal place!

asides that, yes on mass, you probably could build basic terrace houses for £60K a pop, but that's never going to cover the cost of the land or roads/services/etc.

Absolutely incredible. Would be the funniest thing I'd heard all month if it wasn't for the fact that 8% of the population want to vote for these fkwits. The rest of the leaders will make mincemeat out of her in the debates so I'm guessing she'll just end up screaming "Fascist! Racist!" at Farage.

The only way I can see them being able to fund these policies is by adopting the methods used by Pol Pot.

Laughable. Just pathetic.

you're spot on.

it;s a shame the debates will never get into the details of the parties actual competencies.

Farage would say nothing and let her carry on - as they say, it's rude to interrupt your enemy when they're fking stuff up.

This just posted on the BBC website:

Caroline Lucas, the Green Party's only MP, told the launch event earlier the party has ruled out entering a coalition in the event of a hung parliament in May but was "open to" supporting a Labour minority government. "The experience of the Lib Dems over the past few years demonstrates the dangers of losing your identity and integrity," she said. "We would be open to supporting a minority Labour government on a case-by-case basis. Working with parties like the SNP and Plaid Cymru... we would form a progressive alliance which would put real pressure on a minority government."

Be afraid. Be very afraid. That is one unholy alliance of nutjob hand-in-your-pocket spendthrifts.
