So if you have a mac and an apple TV, why would you switch to an android phone when the iPhone integrates with your existing tech? You may not like the apple 'eco' system but the reason its been so successful is that it does work seamlessly, Apple are a company not a charity and they will make products that work with each other, don't like that system, don't buy it.

It was said 'they all do that' they clearly don't.
They all do that in that they all sync data when you log in. Apple are the only ones that tie you to their overpriced stuff. Make the first step yourself and you'll be thankful. Even more so when windows 10 drops.

Eh, I'll be thankful? I use Apple equipment to make my living and it works for me. I'm not tied into anything

People told me that abut Vista ;-)

FWIW I have never used a windows operating system in my professional career, and the brief times I have had to do something on a PC it has annoyed the hell out of me. Different stokes for different folks

The premise given by many on this thread is that if you own an Apple product, you are a fanboy.

Ok, so what does that make me then? You cretins.
Strangely angry, apparently.

I don't see the point of the iPad too. What can it do? Why would you buy one when you could spend a bit more and buy a Surface instead and have a tablet that runs everything.
Surface does not know what it is. The highlight of the product that Microsoft's adverts centred around was the 'click' the kickstand makes when you pop it out.

It's even fully documented that they break no end of worker's rights http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23486638. Horrible immoral sts that somehow have conned people into thinking they're getting value for their extortionate fees when Android and Windows Phone wipes the floor with it.
Do you really believe that the employee's that Apple's subcontractors use are treated worse than any other manufacturer? Apple seems like one of the few companies that makes some effort to address working conditions.

Let me know when Windows Phone wipes the floor with anything.
I know what the Surface is. It runs incredibly demanding Cad work in Catia, has pretty immense battery life while doing so and then can be treated as a tablet when you do want to use it causally like an iPad.

Yes. Apple gets a hell of a lot more stick and has a lot more dodgy dealings about it than any of the other major manufacturers.

As for the Windows Phone it won me over. The Lumia 920 was released the same time as the 5 and the Lumia is far superior in everything that matters to me. Better camera, more durable, Microsoft office support and contrary to the belief it lacks apps, it has all the ones that matter.
Apple is the evil rich corporate is it? It's the same mentality in the UK, 'eat/tax the rich'. Jealousy.

How about samsung. A company built on tax evasion (not legal avoidance), bribery and corporate espionage. All findings of courts of law.

I can call someone a cretin without being angry.

Oh wait, like others on this thread, you may well know me better than I know myself, perhaps I'll defer to your good judgement in that case smile

Don't sweat it Jim. My father in law is exactly the same. Purchased his Samsung ste for £50 and spent the next 6 months trying to convince anyone who would listen that Apple is over priced crap and samsung is the nuts. He spent all day on the net reading every anti apple article he could find.

I switched from Windows based Pcs to a Mac, 5 years ago because i was tired of all the baggage that comes with windows (viruses and crashing), plus i wanted a thin monitor, all in one HDD that took up a small footprint and looked sharp. Enter the Mac. It's been perfect. Obviously ipads and iphones talk to the Mac nicely too.

I really don't give a fk. In this day and age, I almost have respect for companies and people that make a success out of saying say fk the system and have absolutely no grudge against "the one percent". I don't buy their stuff because it costs more and does less of what I need.

There is very few mac fanboys in reality

I have owned mac stuff since the first titanum powerbook

I have only owned an iphone since the 2nd gen one came out

I won't consider buying stuff that isn't mac as i can't be arsed to learn a new system

Therefore i am to many a completely blinkered fanboy

The fact is i don't give a fk if anyone else buys apple products

The real fanboys are the ones that go out of their way to bash people who buy apple products and scream from the rooftops how st apple products are.

Have I got the wrong poster-you previously said Apple allow their employees to be abused and taken advantage of. Now you don't give a fk about what the competition are doing? No idea what you mean by 'companies that say fk the system' do you mean, do what is necessary to succeed? Like organised crime?

The amount of cash they are sitting on is reported to be enough to wipe out the UK's deficit - incredible when you actually contemplate what they could do with this surplus cash. Could they not do something for the greater good with this money?.
For the greater good of their shareholders they should be utilising it.

Post Jobs there is a big question over there ability to continue to innovate internally. So their missing out/not bothering with so many strategic acquisitions despite all that cash is very questionable, they should have been snapping up companies to strengthen their proposition.

For example Waze was a company snapped up by Google as it was clearly better designed than Google maps navigation, huge missed opportunity by Apple.

OK.

Yazar; the 'greater good' statement is complicated a little by the tax they'd have to pay on repatriation, though, which arguably may be to the detriment of shareholders I suppose.

That's why it's cheaper for them to borrow $60bn to buy shares back than it is to pay taxes on repatriation of the cash that could otherwise buy those shares interest free (and then again).

Apple method of upgrades: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc

Other companies: 240, 7, 3, 900, 400 etc

Get the drift?

As someone who isn't a techie nerd, I want a simple upgrade process. I don't want to spend hours having a spotty oink sales gimp in carphone warehouse telling me all sorts of marketing babble. I also do not want to spend endless hours comparing hundreds of phones online.
With Apple at least I know 4 is better than 3, 5 is better than 4 and so on.

And in case anyone thinks I'm a fanboi, I still use an iphone 4!
Is that a 4 or a 4S. Will you be upgrading to a 5 or a 5C or a 5S. Maybe 6 perhaps or a 6Plus. I expect some folk would need a 'spotty oink sales gimp' to explain the difference.

I know they clearly don't know what they are doing ;-)

There maybe a question post Steve Jobs but they are so tight lipped about anything they develop I'm not sure if that question can ever be answered.

As for Maps, thats one area where they right royally balled up and google are streets ahead of them - pun intended.

So says the CEO lol.

Oh and whoever posted teh above deficit comment is completely wrong. There is a rather big difference between a deficit and debt. Our debt stands at about 1.4 trillion quid so roughly 2 trillion usd. How is Apple paying that off?
