Seems to indicate that `sponsors` might get it wrong for maybe 5 years before anyone notices something other than profit. Just enough time for little Johnny to have had his chances ruined.

There's something a bit odd in needing Ofsted inspections, isn't there?
If the head teacher is a professional, one would like to think they have the right attitude/capability to run a school within parameters set by...the governors? Parents? Local authority? Does it matter...
An extra layer of bureaucrats can only improve things.

Interesting piece on Ofsted in Breibart this week. Pretty shocking reading.

This was always going to be one of the side-effects of removing schools from local control to national control.Seems to indicate that `sponsors` might get it wrong for maybe 5 years before anyone notices something other than profit. Just enough time for little Johnny to have had his chances ruined.

By interesting, do you mean unbalanced ramblings with an obvious political spin?http://www.breitbart.com/london/2015/01/28/nicky-m...
The reason why these schools have lost their funding and are under attack, is that they are failing their pupils, not because they are 'Christian'. All schools which are taking state funds have to fulfill certain obligations, one of which is the exposure to different cultures and religions.
They failed to meet this obligation, therefore they are in trouble. I wonder what the piece would have been like if it had been about the Muslim schools which also ran into trouble? It's fundamentally (no pun intended) the same problem.

Lol. Are you really unable to see through your progressive spectacles the difference between what was going on in the Trojan Horse schools and what has gone on in the schools mentioned in the article. You are well and truly lost. The reason why these schools have lost their funding and are under attack, is that they are failing their pupils, not because they are 'Christian'. This is because local authorities had been so successful in creating a failed school system.School vouchers give the power back to the consumer.
With regrads to school vouchers - parents can already choose which schools they want to apply to. Oversubscribed schools aren't suddenly going to have more places simply through the introduction of a voucher scheme.

OFSTED do not go inspecting schools for no reason(*1). It is not difficult for schools to meet the obligation of exposure to different cultures and religions(*2), so one can only assume that the people running the schools were either incompetent or wilfully deciding to do this. If you want Muslim schools to teach "British values", then the same applies to Christian run schools too.
(*1)To quote the report : "Pupils show a lack of respect and tolerance towards those who belong to different faiths, cultures or communities...Discrimination through racist or homophobic language persists,".
(*2) It would be as simple as exploring the Islamic faith (there's plenty which is the same as Christian faith. 99.9% of schools in the UK manage it quite easily.

So you honestly think that not having a understanding of religion and other cultures at the age of 9 is the same as a school where boys sit at the front of class with girls at the back while been taught Wahhabism instead of the national curriculum?OFSTED do not go inspecting schools for no reason(*1). And why do I get the feeling that, in the light of the recent revelations of "are you a virgin?", "what do lesbians do?" etc questions being thrown at the poor youngsters... they wouldnt DARE do the same in a muslim faith school?
Exactly. Here is another couple of good articles explaining the demise in our schools.http://conservativewoman.co.uk/laura-perrins-new-t...

Seriously? You're citing the Daily Mail as an example of objective reporting?
For the sake of balance I suggest the following documents are read:
1 The Ofsted reports for both Durham Free School and Grindon Hall Christian School.
2 The Financial Notices to Improve slapped on both these schools by the Education Funding Agency.
3 Ofsted's denial of the allegations made by both schools.
I'm no fan of Ofsted but it appears people are only too willing to take both schools' allegations as truth and whip themselves up into a hysterical lather. And if inspectors are alleged to have asked children inappropriate questions, this accusation could also be levelled at parents and teachers at the school (Did inspectors ask you about sex? Did they ask you what lesbians do?).
