I walked past a sewage farm yesterday, and as soon as I got home, I incinerated all of my clothes and then shaved my head.

Interesting, do smokers lash out with beer bottles or smash glasses into peoples faces like drunks have done, is that passive enough.
Very good friend is an accomplished oncologist.She and many others in her team are confirmed smokers.Tests that they have carried out and comparisons between the two 'evils' mark them both at roughly the same risks. If the gene is there then the chance of developing a related condition or disease then it will happen.IE lung disease or liver disease.
Best to go out happy I think-you might get run down by a bus tomorrow.

No, just being gently provocative really. Back in the day when smoking was permitted in public rooms it was a problem, thankfully one that is now resolved.

Having said that my wife worked in an Estate Agency, the new smoking restrictions became law but her boss decided that these laws did not apply to him! Wife would come home from work absolutely stinking of the foul smoke in her clothes and hair.
However, her boss was a decent enough bloke (apart from his chain smoking) and it was his Estate Agency business, so we put up with it.

I don't think anyone is proposing banning smoking, smokers make a generous contribution to HMRC's coffers and should be applauded for so doing. There are restrictions on where smoking is permitted, but there are restrictions on many activities that others find objectionable. For instance, smoking isn't allowed in pubs, but neither is walking around naked or taking a crap on the bar. Doesn't mean walking around naked or taking a crap are banned, just that others object to being around people doing either so it's best to restrict such activities to the privacy of ones home. The other issue is tax, but I've managed to reach the grand old age of >50 without ever paying a penny in tobacco tax, it's optional, don't smoke and don't pay

What people get up to in their own home is no-one's business but their own, what they do in public is less clear cut as it impacts upon other people who may object to the behaviour or it's effects.
