So I have got my first coldsore and its really pissing me off.

I am not in pain or anything but I have some cream that is supposed to sort it by drying it out like any other cream does. Only problem is that when it dries, it cracks and bleeds as soon as I move my lips in anyway other than a light conversation.

Any tips/ideas welcome.

They are damn annoying and yes once you have the virus you don't get rid of it. Avoiding snogging those you love (or anyone else for that matter).
Plaster it regularly with acyclovir - Zovirax or pharmacy own. If its got to the stage where its scabbing and then cracking then you might soften it a little with the cream so it doesn't crack. Over night is the bugger.
Sadly you get to know the feeling of the very early stages so you can treat early and keep it to a minimum. It will still take 10-14 days to get rid of mind.
Take great care not to touch your eyes or gentleman's parts as it will have a fairly detrimental affect on both.
They come back when you are ill or generally tired and fatigued so try not to be and treat anything that feels odd.
Fortunately they do disappear entirely once it dies down.

I used Llycine in large amounts to shift mine. I think it boosts your immune system or some such. Definitely worked for me and come to think of it I havent had one for a couple of years (after getting them every winter regular as clock work).

Have suffered wirh them for years sadly, I stick to Zovirax but some say Blistex is better in the latter stages. Also read toothpaste & used tea bags dry them out, tried toothpaste once but not for me.

They are horrible on your mouth but worse on your eyes & even worse down below I'd guess.

Catch them as soon as you feel that tell tale tingle & they should be gone in a week.

Suffered since childhood with these. Seems to sprout when run-down and can be nailed to hangovers. So don't drink to excess OR take Echinacea regularly as this SEEMS to prevent outbreaks as it assists with keeping the immune systems up. Zovirax and neat lavender for me when dealing with the blighters...

I use a good quality lip balm for the dry stage.
It helps to stop the bleeding.

I get them if I overdo it, ie late nights etc. Also always used to get them on the first cricket match of the season, outdoors for long periods in cold but sunny conditions. My Mum used to say use ear wax! I stick to Zovirax or any of the own brands so long as they contain Acyclovir. Usually helps if you catch them early though occasionally mine don't respond. There was guy at Uni who got them in his mouth, ears and nose. I considered myself lucky.

It'll go away by itself. Just eat and live more healthily than you normally do for a few weeks and it'll sod off. As someone has already said, they tend to appear when run down, whether tired or lack of nutrients.

I have suffered with them from time to time, usually when I'm a bit run down, Ill or stressed.
As many have said Zovirax cream is a good starter for 10. It's active ingredient is a drug called acyclovir. When I was suffering fairly regularly several years ago I went to see my GP. I had a couple of courses of Acyclovir tablets. Whilst its doesn't completely kill the virus it is very effective. I now probably get one a year (if I am unlucky)

Finally Zovirax is outside of its patent now so many super markets do their own equivalent, which are a lo cheaper.
