No doubt Gatestone have an axe to grind but how accurate is the picture painted here?

It's not immigrants or refugees, it's the hot weather according to Börje Svensson, a psychotherapist and “an expert on sexual criminals..."

3000 cars are arsoned annually, but it has only just become a talking point in the media.
Sometimes it feels like North Korea here, even though in other respects, quality of life remains excellent.

I don't see what the axe is. Gatestone's reporting is generally well researched, factual, reliable.

Unfortunately that paints a quite accurate picture of Sweden today.

Gatestone's people are spot on IMO (I use their analysis and insights as a part of my work), Sweden and Germany are two regular subjects both of which are in "unfortunate" states for similar reasons. Shame it's gone the way it has.

When it comes to Sweden it's not really a new phenomenon, but without a doubt it has exploded this summer.

As a side note, there have been around 70 car torching incidents in Malmö since beginning of July, the fkwits in charge are still claiming that yoofs are only doing this as they are bored.

The authority's attitude in Sweden amaze me (and Gatestone had started reporting this at least 2 years ago AFAIR), the first time I became aware of what is going on there I thought I had been reading science fiction.
One of the terms used is "Europe is sleepwalking" (down a very dangerous path).

Well that'll be a comfort to me as my p&J goes up in smoke frown

There is a total lack of police here in Sweden which is troubling, if you try and call the police on the equivalent of 999 you quite often will end up on hold before being answered and then they will tell you there are no cars available.

So you have massive amounts of new arrivals from places in the world were law and order do not exist coupled to a police force that is minimal and overstretched, yep sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Society which generally obeyed the rules, those things, i.e. the rules, being very important now having to deal with a significant influx of individuals who a) don't give a st, and b) a subset of those in a) also see distinct possibilities to their benefit in using the system.

If I go back a few years, the place where I spent most time when working and living over there, the local police station actually shut down in the summer holiday months. Public order was pretty much left to the vakta, a sort of civilian guard bod, we had one only, suppose PCSO is nearest UK equivalent but even PCSO'S are more official.

OK when in July the biggest crime is a bit of unofficial street racing prior to a big American car fest. But now? Sleepwalking to disaster sums it up frankly.

People routinely use a little loop in our town for burn outs, drifting etc, nobody seems to love driving antisocially quite like Swedish people laugh

On a more serious note though, calling 112 is a joke. My missus had to call them a month or so ago and had to wait about an hour for a call back. It's not their fault that they are stretched but the leaders of this country actually need to do something about it. Some people may take the view Sweden is sleepwalking into chaos but I'd say it's more like the leaders know the country is doomed and are just sticking their heads in the sand.

That brings back memories. Lived in Sweden for 18 months at the start of the century. The illegal Stockholm races (organized by the local Hells' Angels chapter) were really well organized and running without huge issues. It even had a hot-dog stand present. smile

It wouldn't be Swedish if it didn't have a korv stand!

That's something I miss, calling in the petrol station, seeing someone you know also filling up, move your cars off the pumps, park up, go in to pay and have a coffee and korv plus a catch up.

I don't even mind going food shopping as I know it will end with korv och läsk laugh

yes hot dog and a drink, if I recall from my trips to Gothenburg, those were a while ago though, so I'm a tad hazy.
