The riot in Rinkeby last week, after the first patrol had to shoot their way out of the situation, it took the police over an hour to enter Rinkeby again, and that is just 15min from the police HQ in Stockholm.
You'll know better than me, but I've been told Rinkeby has always been a dump and it's just now a dump with a largely immigrant population.
Rinkeby was built late 60's and consists of high risers built especially for cheap but comfortable and good living, mainly for the young and European workforce immigrants. Back in that time, housing was a problem in Sweden, the so called "miljonprogram" was launched, create one million new apartments between 1965 and 1975.
The young grew up, got jobs, started a family and moved out, many of the European immigrants also moved out to a better living, in came more immigrants from further afield, rinse and repeat.

It has never been an upmarket place, but it has never been in the state it is now.

What exactly do you think I am deluded about?

"Create a fuss" is not Lagom, after all.

We generally don't have burning cars and police no-go areas here, so I'm not sure whether you have the correct impression of the UK...

When I lived in London 3 cars were torched in my street (nice area in North London) don't remember that making even local news.

In and around Malmö over 300 cars were torched last year, in the town where I live 60, in Stockholm 135, in Södertälje 105 cars were torched in five months last year.

I think that the whole European political class have too much invested in this project to quit now. And no backup plan.

Behind the nice stuff about humanitarian superpowers and compassion for the world's needy and displaced Europe needs people. Our population is aging, meaning millions more people entitled to generous but unfunded pensions. We are also having less children meaning fewer tax payers to fund them and the rest of the overburdened welfare state. Not to mention that the children we do have stay in education until early middle age and/or spend years unemployed.

Millions of young people desperate to improve their lot in life beating a path to Europe was manna from heaven for those faced with filling that hole.

This solution rests on the arrogant assumption that cultural differences are merely superficial and in a few years these migrants will be happily paying taxes and staffing old people's homes. If this doesn't happen, and the early indications aren't great, then there appears to be no plan B.

Now you've gone too far, I voted to leave the EU, not the wine growing regions of France.
Just applying a little pressure in some small way regarding the balance of trade wink

When we have left I'll drink what I like again biggrin

Oh, there's a Plan B all right, and it is the same all over. It is "Remain in power while the population and culture shifts underneath you".

Europe does not need more people to pay taxes to fund the pensions. Greece, Spain and Portugal have millions of 18-25 year olds unemployed!!

Apparantly it's our fault.

"What is immediately apparent about these young men is that they haven’t imported their problem culture to Sweden from the poverty-stricken districts of Afghanistan or the bombed-out suburbs of Aleppo, but from the US and the UK. “A lot of them were born in Britain,” says Amir Zujovic, part of the large police presence keeping the peace in the suburb. “It’s not unusual if you catch someone selling drugs, when you look at their record, you see that they have also committed crimes in England.”"

Not seen that angle on it before. I would say most of the trouble makers are Swedish born second or even third generation immigrants from Northern Africa and Middle East, with some newly arrived thrown in for good measure.

Your google skills are excellent, but if you can't tell the difference between arson and a riot, you might need to get out more...

Hopefully that will not be very much longer, but a lot of damage is already done. This crisis should have been dealt with 20 or 30 years ago.

Steve
Well they already have the right to go and work in Germany or Sweden. Their governments deem it better to pay them benefits so they can protest against Trump and get more degrees.

Användandet av handgranater bland kriminella i Sverige saknar motstycke i världen bland länder som inte är i krig.

Google translate:
The use of handgrenades among criminals in Sweden unparalleled in the world among countries not at war

So far today one handgrenade was found outside a police station in a suburb to Stockholm, and just now a handgrenade detonation was heard in Malmö.
