I'm glad to announce that I too am off in a couple of months. It took me less than two years to reach the point of fk this. I'll be living below the poverty line for a while as I try to get my business off the ground in the UK. But it'll be worth it.

Goodbye Sweden.
That is a depressing read.

fk me, this brings a chill down my spine.

http://www.expressen.se/gt/forskolan-hagahuset-arr...

A nursery participating in Pride... with the children repeating slogans.

'Haga Nygata was painted in all of the colours of the rainbow on Thursday. With homemade flags, banners and songs 120 children from the Hagahuset nursery took part in the manifestation for love.
- We do it because we want to, said 3-year old Alice Gesaw.
- You must be allowed to love who you want to, added her friend Hugo Beaumont.'

Their teacher explains:
'We talk about the equal value of people every day - that sexuality or the colour of one's skin doesn't matter. We do this 365 days of the year.'

Sorry if this is all very confusing a frankly a bit odd, but again - I'm a bit confused myself and I hope others can fill in the blanks and connect the dots. I just wanted to let you all know that time travel is indeed a possibility - you're only a two hour plane ride away from 1984.

I despair.
It was a clear, easily understood explanation.

I thought I heard some news item where a young British lad disillusioned at the British economy and his life and home ownership opportunities had seen Sweden topped some happiness survey so was moving to Sweden. I think the Govt. does and takes heed of some 'happiness' survey here in the UK too.

Radio 4 News are covering the Swedish Royal wedding. I'll have to research the topless snake photo.

Every town in Sweden has their own problems, Gothenburg is like a shooting range, Malmö is the bomb capital of Europe, Västerås is the car burning Mecka, Stockholm and surroundings are riot zones, and what is being done to solve the issues, nothing.

Infrastructure, schools, healthcare are all falling to pieces, what is being done to solve the issues, nothing.

Well, actually, there are tax raises coming our way...
You may just be the biggest doom monger I have ever seen on Pistonheads hehe
And he's up against some pretty stiff competition. biggrin
I've not worked out why so many rich powerfully-built well endowed directors appear to be so miserable about life, the universe, and everything smile

Perhaps 'they' have had enough of working their socks off and paying boatloads of tax to see it frittered away to pay for the upkeep of non-productive incomers.

What do you think?
If that's the case, they should get real and be more positive.

Pardon? Get real and be more positive? When the incompetent leaders are pissing our tax money away on one idiocy after another, while the healthcare, schools and infrastructure are crumbling, killings, shootings, rapes and other violence is soaring.

My better half was told that the hospital didn't have the means and possibility to give her father the care he needed, within a week he was gone, the same fking hospital is having its perfectly fine entrance rebuilt to the neat sum of 50Msek, as decided by the tts in charge, don't talk to me about getting real and being positive.

I've no idea. If I was that bitter about paying tax I'd upsticks and move to a country with a similar standard of living but a low/no tax regime smile

Without wishing to rake over painful memories - what was the care your FIL needed and what was the cost?

Pakistan?

wink
If your standard if living in the UK is the same as what it would be in Pakistan then go for it wink

P.s. import tax on cars is 100% and you'll be paying road tax at every single police checkpoint. But hey, at least you won't be paying for the feckless biggrin

I'm no expert, but in short, he needed a balloon angioplasty, he didn't get the treatment and suffered a severe stroke.

Cost? I have no idea, but in a country with one of the highest tax pressures in the world, this really shouldn't be an issue.

And he didn't get the treatment because of financial reasons? If so, I'm surprised, as I hadn't realised that they limited or stopped treatment on the grounds that they didn't have any money.

Not quite on the same scale as that, but I was quite shocked that my missus had to pay for 100sek to see a GP about a mole she was worried about. Saying that, she chose her time and I went with her and she was in and out in 15 mins - I couldn't even get an appointment to see my GP recently.

That's what the head nurse told my OH, it feels horrible to say, but we cannot offer your father the care he needs.

Cost cutting is very tangible everywhere, patients suffering in hospitals due to lack of staff and equipment, not enough teachers in schools, not enough police to deal with crime, the railway and road maintenance is shockingly poor.

Nothing major I hope, the queue for cancer treatment is around three months, in some cases up to seven months.

I'm sorry about your FIL, though my comment stems from an earlier one about PHers (most of whom are in the UK), not Sweden. I don't recognise your bit about things crumbling, and all he violent stuff soaring, as being what's happening in the UK. Perhaps I'm lucky, though I should add that I live in a very ordinary home, in a very ordinary location.

The incomers are usually the ones who are working their socks off too - I think you've been reading too much Daily Mosely, or the Torygraph for your own good.

These things are happening in Sweden though.

We don't have those here, SvD, DN, Expressen, Aftonbladet, DI are the local ones.

I had no idea Malmo was quite so dangerous - My brother has lived there since 2003 and he's never said a word about it's problems with explosive devices.....I'm not implying that it doesn't happen - just saying that it's never been brought up in conversation all the time he's been there.

I'm not slating Finlandia's viewpoint as he obviously lives there, but my observations as someone who heads to Göteborg for at least 10 days of each month I would say it's not as bleak as is being made out. So much so that I'll be moving to Sweden soon myself. I think part of the problem is that the Swedes had it so good for so long and now the tides are changing, albeit quite significantly, but it is still a great place to raise a family in my humble opinion.

Last week in Malmö, 27 arrests made for shootings, 6 in court for bombings. Last night in Malmö, 4 people shot, 2 injured by bomb.
