Its only used racistly in the great old USA.
Outside of there it's just a phrase.
Anyone who uses the term "dogwhistle" usually isn't worth arguing with as their mind is already set.
Back in 1997 I used the expression “Jap car” on a US based BMW forum (roadfly, I think)

Jesus! You’d think I’d posted something outlining my own personal plans for a particularly brutal “final solution” or something - the Yanks went nuts, personal messages, the lot.

I still use the word “Jap”.

Everyone knows that particular culture are prone to getting uppity so why poke them by giving them a reason to play up?

They are pandered to the rest of the time because of this sort of thing.
I think it is precisely because it gets such a ridiculous reaction that it is worth prodding them often and hard, to flush out these childish thugs and destroy them and their disgusting ideas.

What, in the same way as you're taking up cudgels on behalf of someone else?

In the meantime, try Googling a bit harder. Yes, 'uppity' had that original meaning; nowadays it's used almost exclusively as a pejorative towards African Americans. You don't have to like what I've posted - and really, I will lose zero sleep either way - but you can't say that it's not been pointed out how the word is used in the 21st Century.

You poor, paranoid sod. Get out more.

...unless you're trolling. In which case 8/10.

Me neither. It’s a word I use reasonable regular as well.

Sweden’s descent into social unrest is a remarkable development in what was once one of Europe’s most stable societies. It is a development that other western countries would be wise to watch very closely, in order not to repeat the same mistakes.

I'm using it more now. I'm going to do my bit to prevent stupid Americans taking it.

She was very careful to say part of this issues is the far right. Can anyone tell me if Sweden has always had an issue with the far right or has it become more prominent following there immigration policy?

Of course correlation does not imply causation.

Sweden has radically tightened its immigration policies since taking in more people per capita than any other EU country during the migration crisis of 2015, and now has one of the bloc’s most restrictive policies along with neighbouring Denmark.
Bolted thd stable door a bit late, didn't they?

Well this is a timely thread update. Im on the 9am flight out to Got tomorrow morning and Stockholm for the second half of the week.

If I survive the social upheaval, I shall report back on the open warfare in the streets. #PrayforDeej

Swedish update: not dead yet. No bombings or stabbings or killings or mild swearing seen or heard yet in Gothenburg.

Good stuff. I'm flying from London to Stockholm later this month. Do you have to do any Covid tests or have a vaccine passport to get into Sweden?

Nope. They politely ask you not to cough and er, that’s about it.
They even had friendly passport border control people who smile at you! Funnily they opened a second booth for Brits at the airport, but the sign above was the normal EU only sign. When we asked are you sure it’s ok for us to use that booth, they just shrugged and said yes, we don’t care about that sign. Then the bloke said: You are British! and just shrugged.
Frankly it was all jolly pleasant and most un-Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester like!

BoJo in Sweden today out at Harpsund the Swedish PM's country residence, can't exactly call it a summer cottage, signing a declaration of security alliance with Sweden. If Sweden asks, Britain will provide.

Finland later.

Sweden has been catastrophically dull this week. Boris arrived and nobody even swore or took the piss about him, let alone any stabby stabby short boom boom.

To be fair, he probably blends in quite well with the rest of the daft, blond gammons out there.

Was in Gothenburg yesterday, catching up with my colleagues there for the first time since Covid.

Their only comment on him was along the lines of "oh my god, did you see Boris in that boat. How silly did he look".
